Most annoying "I'm Looking For" problem

For me, people not using the site tools gets rather irritating. It also seems disrespectful because it feels like they couldn't be bothered to look for themselves, but they want you to take time to suggest something for them.

For me, it's when people recommend stuff that shows they clearly didn't even read the opening post. E.g. recommending mangas the OP used as an example of what they're looking for, recommending shounen when they asked for shoujo, etc.
Oh dear, you're about to start off a rant mood, but I'll try to contain myself. 🤣
But yeah, this section is probably the most idiotic (yet most helpful) one in MU.
Requesters not using site tools before requesting (e.g. genre search or searching the forum for an existing topic): Seriously, grrrrr. Most of these people are just lazy, I think. Unless your request is something niche-like, don't bother, and just search the section first or just look yourself. I never request manga, because I enjoy discovering manga myself. I mean, once in a while is okay, but I notice these "serial thread makers" that make generic and vague "looking for..." threads. That's just unnecessary.
Requests that are too general or broad: These don't bother me too much. I'd actually say they're good threads, as long as they make clear which demographics are allowed, since male-oriented romance can be completely different from female-oriented romance, if you know what I mean. Something else that is similar but infinitely more annoying are those, "Yeah, so I'm searching for this manga like x" and that's all they leave. Uhmm... okay, then? IMO, each manga has a distinct feel (that feel is rather subjective to boot), so instead you should share with us the aspect that you liked so much in that specific manga.
Suggesters always suggesting the same manga for every request: I used to think this was annoying at first, but not anymore. I kinda see it like propaganda for those manga, which is a good thing. No matter the manga, they all deserve popularity!(?) 😮 I try to keep my suggestions as varying as they can be.
Suggestions do not fit the specifications indicated (i.e. the suggester did not really read the request): 😔 Just... No words for this. x.x Although I can't fault them too much, since they might've confused themselves or had a brainfart, etcetera. Some blatantly haven't read the OP though. I mean, it happens with regular topics too, why do you do that? READ THE OP. And as lovelyoceaneyes noted, the people that suggest manga that the OP mentioned is so facepalm-worthy. As I said, no words for this.
No feedback. (e.g. no suggestions or no "thanks" from requester): Probably the least annoying, but it still kinda irks me, since I'm usually curious if my suggestions actually helped. I really appreciate it when the requester gives feedback, and I think it's useful for everyone (the suggesters, people who look at the thread). I also like it when the OP absolutely loves my suggestion. It makes me feel accomplished. 8D
Okay, so basically a lot of things irk me... o.o;; Awesome thread, by the way.

Gyahaha! It was time a thread like this was made!
For me it's those "I think there are manga for everything, so I want to be a manga where [insert ridiculously specific request like "the main character is 14 years, 1 month, 3 days, 4 hours, 2 minutes, 8 seconds old and meets a girl that is one second older than her and etc"]. Ok, I will just say there hasn't been any one like this before, but there are some that are kinda close 🤣
Second comes the ones that are made by the same person asking the same over and over when they pretty much had read everything scanlated that is alike. It's ok if it's just twice, but three or four times?
While feedback is nice, I personally don't really care, I suggest because I want to.
tsuto out. 🤣

The most annoying "I'm Looking For" for me is when people are looking for scanlations. Serioiusly, they can't read the rules? And since lambchopsil has to deal with so many of these requests, he doesn't bother to make his closing statement witty (which I understand completely but a little sad since I love lamb's funny posts).
But since it seems like we're talking about actual manga suggestions, I would say when the OP is asking something without searching the site. I hate it when, "I'm looking for a strong heroine who isn't just a crybaby," pops up. There are so many threads about that.
I understand why people ask about a certain genre though. I use the genre search a lot, and sometimes it doesn't help me since I'm looking for a certain feel. For example, I asked for recommendations for horror (without gore) because I want the series to be creepy but not scarring. What do I get from the search? I get Battle Royale and MPD Psycho.

What annoys me the most is when people
come here asking for help "lik dis" and expect us to decipher what they write.
I'm mostly ok with everything else.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Sign.
Incomprehensible english is really annoying in general too.
I've used online translators that generated more comprehensible sentences than some "I'm looking for" requests.

This thread finally exists!! D'= ;A;

Ughhh, this. ____ Just the other day I had to post about 8 links to repeat threads because people fail to use the forum search function, is it that hard? ;A; I wouldn't care much if a newb is guilty of this but even then they should at least try to read the rules in each forum section to avoid problems.

Requests that are too general or broad:
This as well. =__=
"I'm looking for a manga like x." and that's all the info they give. At least share what you liked about the manga. Basically everything you said here. Lol, I ranted on a thread about this once...I think I scared the OP away...@_@;;

Nyahaha~ I'm guilty of doing that at least once, and it was due to a brainfart. @__@;; So it can happen to anyone. This one doesn't irk me that much though, usually when a manga that was suggested which is a genre the OP opposed of, i can usually fit their criteria as well. So if the OP stated absolutely no shoujo, but there's a gem that fits all requirements, well I see nothing wrong with that.

Suggesters always suggesting the same manga for every request:
I don't know, this depends on the thread itself. I know I have suggested the same manga many times for some shoujo threads but that's because it fit within requirements. O_O~

Not going to lie, same for me. @___@;; When I go out of my way to recommend something-- rarely happens-- and actually give my input I expect at least a thank you or something...>.> <.<
Other things:
Looking for series titles- when the description is really vague and can easily be linked to more than 20 series. This is usally for shoujo.
Unknown images- Credit pages: Is it that hard to email the group and ask them where the image is from? .___.
Images again- This really has no solution, but I've seen some images being asked for many, many times. It's harder to use the search function for this, so ya...>>;;

Probably those "I'm bored, recommend me some manga" threads.

When requesters don't respond to suggestions, a simple thank you wouldn't go amiss and any feedback on suggestions is always appreciated. Frankly it's just rude not to thank anyone who took time to help.

😳 Sorry.
I guess what bugs me the most is when someone doesn't comment on a suggestion you took time to give them. Even a simple, "Thanks for the suggestion, but I've read it already", is great. But I HATE it when they just ignore you.

Not exactly this, but I hate it when my feedback goes unheeded. I'm not very good at explaining thinsg so I usually need time to see what other post and then I can see where my description went wrong. whenever I add to my request I must always remeber to change my OP so that anyone new who looks at the topic will see.
Not really a bother but jsut a little request, I would like it if people would post in their old topics if they want the same request again. No need to make a new one for more suggestions if the you posted one a week ago.

When I have to put in effort just to understand what someone is trying to say I just don't even want to help anymore. 😔
Definately the most annoying thing in the "I'm Looking for" section is people not using the tools of the site. I can understand not using genre search if they want to see what series other people have read and enjoyed, but I hate seeing tons of repeat requests because people can't take a few seconds to search the forum for a similar topic.

Doc is right, there are many things that can be annoying. But it's always good to help. They should first search for it on their own, but since they're asking for help, I assume they've already tried.
