I love romance manga but find good one is hard for me. I'm looking for romance where actually is something happening not just non-stop comedy without any progression like in Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san, Kuzumi-kun, Kuuki Yometemasu ka? or dozens of other similar episodic RomComs.

Good examples of what i'm looking for:

  • Any of Seo Kouji's work, for example Kimi no Iru Machi . Yea, there a lot problems with his works like drama caused by cliche moments, sometimes stupid characters actions but still his works is amazing (IMO) coming of age stories with a tons of progression.

  • Giji Harem. This manga has similar episodic format like in Nagatoro-san and Kuzumi-kun, but characters here feels way more realistic/deep than in previous mentioned works and also there a very fast progression in relationships.

  • Shingetsutan Tsukihime. Perfect blend of action and romance. There a lot of progression in main couple relationships, plot and in characters itself.

  • Worth mentioning: Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki, Ase to Sekken, Sensei wa Koi wo Oshierarenai, Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou .

p.s. Sorry for my awful english

You can check my lists my my profile. I got the majority rated too. I read almost exclusively romance so that should work.

I'll just leave Taiyou no Ie here and second Bonnouji.

Ao no Flag is not really a romance manga info on how to write a research paper
but if you put it next to Baka to Tesuto to Shōkanjū I think it works as a romance
