Like totally dude!!!
Try some Sublime and 311 (the only Ska Punk bands that I know)
Of course you know Bob Marley, but try his sons. Steel Pulse is also good.
Also try some Jazz like Monk, or Miles, as they had some good bassist in their bands. Willie Dixon was a Blues bassist that was excellent as a songwriter too.
Some bass laden hip hop (not from lame ass synths or beat machines) would be Common, Mos Def (on The New Danger LP he had an actual band play with him), Tribe, The Roots, and some Immortal Technique.

Well I know that, but Common had released 5 albums before those 2 and each one has tight, pounding basslines. And most common tracks have actual accompaniment or samples from bands with real musicians. (ALSO just because something sounds synthy doesn't mean that it is. There are many effect pedals that can make a bass sound like anything but.)

Tribe is Tribe Called Quest. Monk is Thelonious. Immortal Technique is ten times more br00tal than any metal band I have ever heard.

immortal technique's the kind of guy that would rap over anything and put meaning into it. trash can drums, blowing on a jug, or even a soulja boi produced beat. man's a genius.

Lots and lots of P-Funk.
Also try some Bootsy.
Some Earth Wind and Fire, Sly and the Family Stone, Zapp and Roger, The Association, Maceo Parker, The Average White Band.
You want some good Jazz too?

Seeing as you asked for sax, I'll start with that
Charlie Parker
John Coltrane
Dexter Gordon
Sonny Rollins
Ornette Coleman
Ben Webster
And whatever you do, stay away from Kenny G.
Oh and The Thelonious Monk Quartet
