I have special talent! i can figure out what a show is talking about even when the noise is off.
I had to learn because my grandma would be sleeping and I wanted to watch tv.

Or everything remains the same. And we learn japanese to add to more manga/anime thats translated. Just to make the japanese government more mad.

It doesn't say if it applies to fansubs.
And either way, how is having others around the world watchin a show, not even available to them otherwise, hindering their creative industries??
If they want to make money of it and stop fansubs, then their option is to be making anime available to those outside their damned country.
Right now they only make money selling the rights to US comapnies, etc. to distribute it themselves. And that's up to the US companies as to what gets picked up and when. They can make an effort to distribute it themselves if that's not good enough. Sub things themselves and get them out to the rest of the world quicker and there will be no need for fansubs

From what I can tell the english releases have gotten alot better, but some still change names. Here it's the US company that owns the rights that sells it to TV stations to get aired. Nothin to do with Japan once a company picks up the rights.

I wonder if trying to stop illegal download of anime will make people download anime even more.
I wonder if anyone here knows about Digg.com. It's a popular news website.
There was this thing before when the encryption key was cracked for blu ray and hd dvd. They key was post by several people with that key but there were people who wanted to stop the news post like MPAA and others. But their plan backfired and news of the key was made more popular by their own doing.
I wonder if the same thing can happen with anime.
if you want to know more about the the encryption key story you can wiki digg.com

Honestly I don't think it would be a big deal. Support your economy guys. America is a shit-hole country, and A LOT of that has to do with economic practices of people here.(Almost everyone is a pirate or a scammer. Like 85% of the US population that is 17+) I love to buy my anime and manga. If I can find a manga/anime that is liscensed here, I will buy it. Hell, they actually sell anime in Japan that has English subs. So I will go there and buy the dvds there. Because the artists need money to keep putting out good stuff. Why do you think anime seasons have been crap lately? They make no money because of pirates!! Admittedly, I read/ watch manga/anime online, but nothing that I could buy. In fact, half of my lists are from things I purchased and read at home or in the libraries near me.

I say to heck with them. If it wasn't for internet Anime, I probably would neer have even watched (or later bought) 90% of the Anime that I have.
If it wasn't for the internet.... I never would've ever even known that anime/manga exists.

eh, I don't think this will be much of a problem. People will still find ways to upload more fansubs. So I'm not that worried. :/

ya'll are acting like this is unreasonable... it really isn't. Do you realize how much money they lose?
Well the concept isn't it actually happening is. I don't watch enough anime for it to effect me so... 🙄
If this were to happen (which if it did well I'd imagine it would not be soon) people would adapt. Probably bombard their libraries to buy the anime w/e w/e
seriously how are you going to get mad at them trying to enforce laws/not lose money. 🙄

The original posting of that article was October 27, 2007, obviously not too much has been done as we're all still able to find anime online.
When I went to look at the forum discussion, I got this:
You may look at the talkback but please consider that this article is 2 years, 6 days old before posting.
Seriously, why was this bumped if no new information was given on the subject? I could understand if another article came out, but no one linked any.
