Honestly I don't think it would be a big deal. Support your economy guys. **America is a shit-hole country, and A LOT of that has to do with economic practices of people here.(**Almost everyone is a pirate or a scammer. Like 85% of the US population that is 17+)
kindly gtfo. 😀 😃 or as it seems the case stay out 🙄

The original posting of that article was October 27, 2007, obviously not too much has been done as we're all still able to find anime online.
When I went to look at the forum discussion, I got this:
You may look at the talkback but please consider that this article is 2 years, 6 days old before posting.
Seriously, why was this bumped if no new information was given on the subject? I could understand if another article came out, but no one linked any.
I wonder why it was bumped as well 😕 well now people can relax and keep breaking the law 🤣
also omg your icon and sig are scary 😢

so my anime days are gonna be over soon ah... 😢
better get a noose ready for that fateful day to come...
but seriously japan's economy has been in the gutter for a while and they'd seriously need the support of the anime industry an community to boost their economy.
how about they sub theyre own anime and upload them to paying sites?
that would be pretty evil but it could possibly work. but then again its impossible to stop pirating and all those things from happening because they are way to many people who do it 😔

-adds to bump-
The writers, artists, directors, colorists, voice actors, hell even the people that put together the advertising, etc., deserve their share. But you know, it comes down to this: I have no freaking money. If I didn't have an interest in P2P, I could not justify having internet. I would cancel with my ISP.
How many other people are avid torrent users?
Well, not 100% on these numbers, but...
There are 307,755,827 (Three Hundred and Seven Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty-Five thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Seven, or so) people in the U.S.A. 43 Million of them (43/307) use some sort of P2P software. "...somewhere around 1 in 6 Americans apparently are unindicted felons." <<according to that http
Posted Jun 09, 2003. More than 6 years ago.
In America alone, it is estimated that 50 million users, or a little over 1/3 of America's internet surfers, use some form of P2P network. eDonkey, the most popular P2P network, has a record of almost five million users online at the same time. Kazaa claims that 390 million users have downloaded their software since 2001.
You can't take Anime or Manga away without taking everything else along with it. I can not imagine what the reaction would be... 😀
I don't really care if they take it off youtube. In fact, I got a "this video is not available in your country do to copyright laws" Or some crap a few times. I expect much more of that will pop up in the future.

This is two years old but its not really invalid. Especially ridiculous responses by people saying they should be glad for the things most of us do.
I was on the opposite side of this issue almost two years ago. But personal ordeals led me to viewing anime, and getting manga.
There are ways to watch anime in the U.S, from rental services to anime channels ect. And ten bucks for a volume is fine. The complaint should probably be slow progressing storylines.
we´re all doing something bad, but for so long, that most don´t give a damn. It´s hypocritcal when its from people that defend anime and manga as artistic. Since they don´t feel it has any value.
One other issue is also how japan is so centric and doesn´t design things for global appeal. Its funny that I don´t feel any country does this. But its an issue I´ve seen game mags and viewers say exists.
While this can´t be stopped. Some downloaders do try to be less evil about it and have a code of conduct. I honestly think its worst, and shows what a lazy ass you are, to download movies, games, and t.v shows that are readily available in the U.S. But I don´t care much anymore about what others do since caring about shit basically screws up your life.

Are you middle class? Lower middle class? No? 'Cuz I'm around there, and no way in hell can I cough up 10$ per volume, with all the manga I read. I will read a manga and end up liking it so much that I will buy it, when I can because I want to show the artist that I really care.
And 20+$ for one DVD? The fact that I'm expected to buy manga/anime before reading/watching it, or paying 6-9$ to watch a movie in the theater to see if I like it before paying out of my ass to buy it on DVD is not reasonable, and the fact that I refuse to do so is not "lazy."
Do you even know how expensive video games are? Check the price on Halo 3. What about TV box sets? Medium: Seasons 1-5, favorite show. Few dollars shy of 150$ How can anyone...? >:-(
If someone is interested in a certain thing, I can see them pouring all their money into it. Sadly though, like a lot of people, I'm interested in more than one form of entertainment, and not likely to blow a large sum of money on any of them, rich or not.
Please enlighten me on watching anime in the U.S. You know, other than Bleach and Naruto 😮

Pretty much summed up my feelings, but I do want to add that just because I don't buy everything I read/watch does not mean that I don't think it has value, it just means that I cant afford it at that time.

Oh yes guys, I just can't wait to spend 100 dollars on the 7th Movie of Garden of Sinners on DVD that I will be "enjoying" in gibberish (japanese) and spend another 129 dollars on the Freedom Blu-Ray set.
Seriously have they seen at what price they are selling their crap? Between the animes that aren't getting a proper english release and the ones who do but ends up being sold for hundreds of dollars, who wants to pay that much or even pay attention when the fansubbers are offering the better quality years before?

I can understand how it is illegal and attainable by people without paying even a minimum amount of money that frustrates them. I doubt that will ever change, maybe someday, but I don't think the US government will do anything about it right now. They just have to face this is how the internet works. They are not the only victims of 'theft', think about all those singers, their music gets downloaded for free on a daily basis. Thank god for the existance of internet 🤣
Who says nothing is impossible? I've been doing nothing for years.
Well nothing really happened since that article was released, and hopefully nothing will continue to happen 🤣

I understand the concern and even though I don't like to admit it. They are absolutely right.
Most of us who download anime and manga do it because for one we can afford to buy them, and two they would take forever to reach us where we live.
I think we all these advances in technology instead of complaining and trying to stop illegal file sharing or streaming is futile. Going after potential customers isn't a smart way to solve a problem.
I think they should sit down and think of a way to make profit by taking advantage of the situation. If I was them I would have a streaming site that would be streaming HQ subbed anime in real time and charges the members a monthly access fee like those video stores do.

I know.... the whole world is going to hell. Everyone has some BIG problems. Personally, in my opinion, America is far from being as great as everyone things, and half the countries in Europe are WAAAAAAAY better then this dwindling country. And I know Japan is pretty bad too, being really stupid about overfishing, as well as several other issues. I would go to Japan to get anime/manga, go to maid cafes, and maybe a few other things, but I wouldn't stay for more than a month or so. BTW, a few years ago, the dollar was worth 110 yen. Last I checked, the dollar was worth 96 yen or so. Japan's economy is doing better than America's in my opinion. But I don't remember alot from my economics class, so maybe it means nothing.
And I apologize if I upset the BU community. I didn't mean to call you guys pirates or scammers. I was talking about America. If you guys were all that bad, this discussion wouldn't have two sides, and it would be a lot angrier.
