i call BS on mayan calender, i'm pretty sure research said sun's solar storms still have got a few million years til they affect the earth at all, as for the Large Hadron Collider (incorrectly called the atom smasher) that could potentially kill us any time they do a experiment using it so i don't see why 2012, as for religions: i'm atheist, i doubt one volcano could kill us all, as for physicsts it's still predictions, i don't the pole swap would kill us cause life survived it the last time

There are so many different dates for the "end of the world" that I just have to shake my head and laugh.
Sure, the human race may end because terrorists decide that's a good date to plant nuclear bombs. But the world ending?... Now that's just egotistical of humanity. The worlds been here much longer than us... And will remain for a long time after.

Meh i honestly don't believe the end is coming. this 2012 stuff is bull in my opinion. Even if we have proof.

it's not the world ending what the Mayans predicted, it's the end of the era as we know it, actually it's already happening...
let me explain: the Mayans calculated that on December 21 2012 (i think its the 21st), the world more importantly the humans would stop being the way they are: planet Earth would start showing signs that the humans were killing it so Earth had to try and make a balance (we see this in Thailand with the tsunami and in China with the earthquake, for example)
from then on it was up to humanity to take a turn in the way we are living (in excess) so we can make our children have a brighter future
we also can see this in the whole "healthy & ecological" ideas the media has brought into our minds...and also ourselves making the change because we want to, not because we HAVE to
that's what the Mayans meant (I'm almost an expert in Mayan and Egyptian history/archeology lol)
also the date is an estimated one, remember that the Mayans had 13 months of 28 days plus 5 which were called "the time of no time" dedicated to contemplate their thoughts, the changes the next year would bring, etc)
anyway what I'm trying to say here it's that maybe the date already came and went or maybe we're about to take the next step
...for purposes of the poll i voted "other"...
I hope i could clear up some doubts, if somebody knows something i didn't plz feel free to pm me or post it here so we can clear up the doubts

O-O ... wow, ur reely smart. Yea, it's nice to have someone rooting on for the world to not blow up with actual facts instead of opinions >< cuz the humanity thing ending kinda freaks me out, lolz. But it'll deffinately come, the end of humanity I mean...>.> not to be, like, a joy-killer or anything, I just meant that the way it's goin, I dun think we'll live forever. =(

Mayan calendar theory is complete bull, people who didn't understand the calendar misinterpret it as end of the world. End does not signify nothing, it merely signifies "end" as in end of season, end of year, end of today. What isn't being passed around is that the calendar goes further than 2012 in terms of predictions, and the world is still freakin fine.
The particle accelerator a.k.a. atom smasher is not capable of sustaining a black hole with enough power to destroy the planet. The guy who said it was a bad idea was a chemist, wow, 1 chemist vs 1000+ top physicist, who do you think can do the math better?
Rest of the reasons are still not enough, if the world is going to end humans wouldn't be around to witness it. (Because we would have ran away by then)
In the end, no freakin point in worrying about things that won't destroy the world, the world isn't that easy to freakin destroy...we're like dead cells on the surface of the earth's skin, easily discarded while the rest is still fine. 🙄
