To quote one of my lecturers (who likes games and comics):
...Here’s my tip as to what to say to people who bang on about how the end of the world is nigh: ask them what they’ve done with their pension. If they REALLY BELIEVE THE WORLD WILL END they will have withdrawn their pension and spent it.
Got to admit he's got a point there. Although the best "end of the world" moment ever was the near-miss meteor they didn't notice until a couple of weeks after it had passed us 🤣 .
omg when was this meteor? O_O
Well the world cant end, I dont even think it can b destroyed
Human life ending, maybe if we keep going on like this, but not because of any of the reasons stated in first post
I don't think so.
It has been the plot of some good books though.

That was a good few years ago now. The excuse was that they can only monitor a certain percentage of the sky at any one time and that meteor just happened to be where they weren't looking.
Actually the world can be destroyed, that's how come we have the Moon. As you might know from science classes our moon is comprised of material that originated from our planet. In the beginning our planet was a lot bigger and possibly had life on it (can only be speculated that there was life). This stage in our planets history is sometimes called Earth Mark I (if I remember correctly).
We are living on Earth Mark II. Another planet came within the orbit of Earth Mark I and made a passing collision (not full impact). That planet, then caught in the gravitational field of Earth Mark I, came back for a full head on collision (a double whammy). Earth was lucky to not be blown into so many pieces, so far apart from each other that they couldn't recollect.
The result was our moon. There was a documentary on it a year or two ago. A double whammy was they only scenario out of hundreds/thousands that produced a moon like ours.
Anyway, point of the matter is: planets can be destroyed, although it usually takes another planet (or larger body) to do so.
edit: déja vu?
Lose - Opposite of win, to misplace something/someone. e.g. To lose your way, to lose a fight.
Loose - Opposite of tight. e.g. To have a loose screw, to loosen a jar lid.
^ Not just scanlators, but also company documents are getting it wrong now!
Well, I highly doubt the world will end in a few years. But that would be cool in its own way. I've always wondered what happens after death.

such a thing would not occur. Ancient predictions by men never came true. People claim some came true only because those predictions are so ambiguous in nature. And I made my arguments here in the locked thread: http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=9141&page=1#post235162

I think it is exactly the topic. I see nothing wrong.

From my studies, every possible outcome of 2012 has something to do with a change in the atmosphere.
Global Warming?
A shift in the Planet's Magnetic Poles that would temporarily obliterate the upper part of the earth's atmosphere?
Venus blocks off the sun for an extended period of time?
Everyone bakes a pie at the same time?WHO KNOWS!
I'm 50/50 on the topic.
It's wat I said in the repeat thread.

I don't think the world will end on 2012, the best evidence that supports the 2012 is the WEB SPIDERS that predicted wars involving nuclear ICBMs would be at an all time high in 2012 along with some other unproven theorys.

And I don't support any of THIS...all of this...
The reason? There's been loads of prophecies made by mankind but people took it srsly and lol, what happened..? We Still LIVE in 2008.
As for the Mayans being 'accurate astronomers' is bullc**p..why? They have no scientific basis on it, how could they predict "WORLD'S GONNA END" when they can't predict global issues of the present time? Did they Know that there's gonna be Cars..industries, Global warming and pollutions in the 21 Century?
And why would they CARE to predict the End of the world when they're obviously can't LIVE to see their so-called 'apocalypse'...

Im pretty sure there are still some ethnic mayas still around.
As for this end of the world prophecy thing, im pretty sure its not going to happen anytime soon, and if it does we wont know soon enough to prevent it.

lol, I like you Hermit Chan. I agree. I can't help but think part of the reason why people choose to believe the end of the world theory is because they want it to happen. Their life has been so safe and dull that this new introduction of fate makes life spicy. 🤣
