Hmm, I don't see why the yaoi, yuri, etc. is deeper into the obsession...thingy. Cuz it's just a genre, ya know? So I can't give a straight out number for me...cuz I go to conventions and I don't like hentai XP
well to answer your question... this is a topic about how far is your reality concept towards animes or what it means to you....
so people who gets moved by erotic stories or forbidden loves would be considered alittle put furthur into the line, wouldnt you agree? cause some people just sees anime as just entertainment... thats it

None of those really describe me, so I just opted for number 5, because I do.
I download much anime because I don't have the gigabytes to, and I wouldn't even if I had a huge HDD, because I'm fairly specific about what I watch.
As for manga, I usually download a volume or two every month. I don't read any ongoing series, so I've no need to keep up to date with anything. I mostly download short series and oneshots. I find reading a manga on digital screen to be quite offputting a times, I prefer having the actual volume in my hands to be honest.
I have very little merchandise as well. A few posters, one or two soundtracks, some crappy gashapons and one decent figure, and that's the height of it.

The main things I look at are style and content.
If the art doesn't appeal to me, then no matter how awesome the series is, I will not get into it. Irritating art is something that distracts me too much to get into the story.
Of course, the story is important too. I read all through Gentlemen's Alliance Cross because I thought 'Hey, the eyes look cool'. The story was...less than impressive. I don't like action much, it's gotta have a good reason for happening, and none of those irritating soliloquizing-about-pointless-stuff-for-half-of-a-freaking-episode/book.
Also, I would like to state that content and style are only two of the factors I focus on.
The third factor is the fans. If the fans are overly annoying, I will try and avoid the series, or at least enjoy it covertly. Case and point: TWILIGHT. Not a manga, I know, but I'm avoiding mentioning anime/manga in order to make a point. Many people I talk to haven't read the series at all, but they hate it solely (or at least mostly, the movie didn't help) because of the fans. This is a major reason why I am going nowhere near Naruto, Bleach or Kingdom Hearts. Final Fantasy- we'll talk about it later.
And on the content note, I'm not too easily offended. But I don't like overly creepy stuff.

I guess by this scale I'm at a six (with yaoi omitted). I watch a lot of anime and read a fair amount of manga, all of which I download onto my computer. I look at hentai frequently. I have a yuri fascination. I'd maybe be at a seven if I were more of a social person in general.
Tree + Taco = Tree taco.
