Hi all. The other thread got a bit difficult to follow due to length.
If your issue still hasn't been resolved, or if you have a new issue, please repost it here.
Thanks!

Hey, just noticed the updated release submission form. The old one's been great, and I can't say the same about the new one:
- Group name autocomplete's gone. Most of releases I submit are from a single group. I used to double click the input and select saved value, but now you can't do that! I suggest reverting to
input[autocomplete]
. Copy-pasting group name discourages me from making contributions, surely that wasn't the goal! - What's the point in "Show comments field" button at all? Just show it always, I find it annoying having to click one extra time enter the release URL.
- I have to click on the comment field to load the editor. It takes a moment to load then the whole area shifts. This is annoying, why can't I just focus and start typing?
- WISYWIG editor icons are so tiny I can't distinguish which list style's which.
- Remember all the form settings, I don't want to click the same thing again and again because the defaults don't work for me. This such a trivial thing to handle, just persist into
localStorage
.
As a contributor, the changes concern me. On one hand, MU receives updates, but on the other, the changes don't make my experience better.

Klaster_1, I acknowledge your issues. I am working other items, but I've noted these items down.

I changed it back to a single line input and added the auto complete flag. Please let me know if this helps.

We have other multi-release forms we use as admins, which makes the massive field annoying. I made it so clicking the show comments button automatically enabled the field without having to click again. Please let me know if this is sufficient.

Which form settings?

I don't know if this counts as an actual problem or not, and my memory isn't great so maybe I'm imagining this, but I'm reasonably sure that with the old version of the site, when you clicked external links (such as the links to official translations), it would open in a new tab. Now when I click an external link, the current MU tab I'm in opens that link.
Personally I like it better keeping the MU tab open and going to the new page in a new tab, since the two main reasons I click external links on MU pages are to open up and read from official sources (while coming back to the MU tab to update what chapter I'm at in my reading list), or looking at the original webtoon's page so I can check to see stuff like if the current chapter count is accurate on MU or if there have been any announcements about publishing updates and the like, and I might want to refer back to MU or update it.
This might just be a me problem (I know I can hold ctrl before I click, I just forget to because I still expect it to open to a new tab), and even if it isn't it's pretty minor so it'd be very low priority, but I thought I might as well mention it just in case it wasn't an intentional change.

I modified it to open links in new windows again (at least text in descriptions, forum posts and comments). Please let me know if that works better for you.

I modified searching to add in some fuzziness. It should capture common typos and still return results. Please let me know if it behaves oddly.
Putting [] around a manga used to hyperlink directly to the entry. I don´t think that the new way to link does this anymore. Here are examples.
This links perfectly: https://www.mangaupdates.com/topic/qyb81uv/you-and-i-are-polar-opposites-gets-tv-anime-in-january-2026
This leads to a search results instead: https://www.mangaupdates.com/topic/s9e84xp/battle-angel-alita-mars-chronicle-ends-with-new-series-slated-for-2025?hl=808127&perpage=15&page=1
Downvoting categories also lead to them disappearing from the highlighted selection after a certain minus threshold was crossed but downvoting them currently pushes them up in the same an upvote does. This broke at least a year before the site update and remains unfixed.
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

If the system can find the manga using `manga here` then it will transform it to the URL. Otherwise it will leave it as a search link. This is what I got for your second link when I did it: Gunnm Kasei Senki Did you manage to break it somehow?

Can you clarify the issue here? I'm not sure I understand.

I know you're probably busy with new changes but if you could add support for my old browser it would be nice. Already posted this in the old thread but since I still can't use the site I thought I might as well do it again.
When using Firefox 89(desktop), I can't login. I get the "something went wrong" message.
The errors I get in the console (the first 3 I think are unrelated to the error but I included them just in case):
-
Content Security Policy: The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource at inline (“style-src”). content.js:113:328
-

Nageki no Alicia has "Strong Female Lead" at 1,3. The score is counted up to 4 and is now the most established category. Under the old system, I don´t know when exactly this broke, this would have led to a minus score. Let´s say -2. The category stopped being in the highlighted box once enough minus votes, I think -4, were reached and the category looked tiny if you opened up all categories. Every minus vote is now counted as a plus vote but maybe not informally. Under Ninja´s "Weak Male Lead" at a score of 0,3 and counts as 1.
Is the return of large covers a feature? I just noticed it. We got settled with tiny ones to offset copyright claims. (Naruto was one of the claimed covers but it´s back.)
