And of course all shoujo

Well, maybe not all, just some of it. But other genres like josei and yaoi have that problem too.

I say - Elfen Lied

That was the first one that came to my mind when I saw the name of this title thread. I haven't even read it because the art is pretty bad. Maybe I should try the anime..hmm.

Claymore, I want to read it but looking at the art gives me a headache.

I agree with this. I should really put claymore on my hold list. I'm not reading it at the moment.

GTO for sure.

Also agreeing with this

Ah yes, shoujo. The only reason I read so much shounen is because the art is much better. I can't read shoujo. I can't because I can't stand the art. It's a shame and I wish I didn't think like that because some of the plots really appeal to me, but I can't read a manga when I don't like the art. It's a trek otherwise, and I can't enjoy it. What's the point in reading it if I can't enjoy it?

I'd say Hating Girl, too. With better art it could've been a top-level contender. Altho' it's cool even now. 🙂

I disliked the art in Koukou Debut quite a lot.

Tori Maia's men are all too feminine looking.

And I just don't like the way that Fujisaki Kou draws. The style doesn't work for me. Like Harem. Ugh. I dislike trying to make men look "manly" by making their bodies too long, their jaws too square, their eyes like slits, and their mouths too wide. It's disproportionate.

There's someone else that does this too, but I'm not finding it right now.

Love Roma. The artwork is terrible, but the story is so fun and entertaining. If I could have any artist redrew it, It'd love for Anan Mayuki to redraw it.

Could you possibly mean either NISHIMURA Shuuko, or KANZAKI Takashi, or KASUGA Naoka?

If you have just taken your time to read the first post...

This thread is about manga with good/interesting plots and characters, but unfitting art.

Not ALL of shoujo and yaoi are bad. Yes, there are many boring/plain/cliched plots in both but this is not what this thread is about.

I don't care how much some of you might hate either yaoi or shoujo. Stop spamming here with your hatred.

On topic:
Most of YAMADA Yugi could use redrawing (especially the older ones).
Her newer titles are quite impoved though.

KANZAKI Takashi maybe, though I don't recall disliking the art of Junai Fetizm all that much. I haven't read anything by the other two to know.

(And sorry Swan, I used Harem to illustrate a point about the art, but the other stories by FUJISAKI Kou I liked fairly well. That general style just annoys me.)

I don't think I would change anything but this one manga where I could understand what was going on because the lines were sooooo thick. (I guess every single line was a deep black, and about 1/2 inch thick.) I don't remember the name because everything was erased by those unbearably thick lines.... XDD

I rather disliked the art in Skip Beat, Glass Mask, and Ares, but... the art rather grows on you, and the more you read, the more it seems to fit, until the manga just wouldn't be the same without that art.
