I think one mangaka that comes in mind is Hirohiko Araki. His first manga he ever made is "Mashounen BT". His art style in the past was passable at most. I'm surprise his art style improve GREATLY over the years.

Arina Tanemura her very first release was very huh... compared to her artwork now.
Anouther is the artist behind Oresama Teacher (sorry I don't know her name.)
Natsuki Takeya
The artist behind Dazzle, that series has the best art transformation in a series. (my view)
I probably didn't spell any of the names right -^-
Please buy the manga your reading online when it becomes available in your area, cos if you don't it just fu**$ us all :].

Hmmm, your stander of "amateur" art is pretty high because those art styles are pretty good. I'm talking about an art style that's lower then that style, like Tooru Fujisawa

She's not a Japanese manga artist, but my favorite example of art evolution has always been Amber Williams, née Panyko.

It just goes to show that nobody starts out at pro level. Practice and hard work make all the difference.

Well I think that Souryo Fuyumi's artwork has improved leaps and bounds when you compare Boyfriend to Cesare.
Haha, and damn, both KISHIMOTO masashi and KUBO tite have improved immensely.
OBATA Takeshi's Hikaru no go was so different from Death note
but i wouldn't call their earlier works amateurish just yet.
Bastard!! improves its art later, and so does Angel Densetsu.

judging from OPs sig and avatar i dont think it is ok for him/her to have opinions on what is amateurish art style and not
your clearly have no taste and understanding about these sort of things lol
plz stop posting
thank you
lol
TaoPaiPai and his bitter posts again... 🙄 You don't even have an Avatar at the moment so does that mean you shouldn't give us your opinion about art at all? 🙄
Going back to the topic now, I guess Inoue Takehiko is one of those mangakas. The first volumes of Slam Dunk look so amateurish but it gets better and better by each volume and now he's totally a professional artist. I love to look at his drawings in Vagabond and Real too...

To be honest, I think Takehiko's slam dunk art style was pretty good back then, but compare to his art style back then, he improve A LOT over the years.

Beware of SPOILERS!
Just thought that TAKAO Shigeru's art has become exceedingly expressive over the years, though she's always had a knack for facial expressions (compare this crying face from Dear Mine to these tears from Issho ni Neyou yo. These raw emotions and subtle nuances - impressive development.
