My best theory to it is that "They want to look "cool"." Since most people consider you stupid for reading comics and cartoons at such an age.

I'm happy that one of my male classmates also reads manga/anime P; It's great to have a friend of common interest around xD

Really? People in my area don't care too much. I'm in fob (or fop if you will) town, where almost half the population is Asian. But it's mostly the guys who are into anime/manga. The girls here... I'm a rare kind that interested in anime/manga. >_>;;
