yea, we kinda broke our best friendship off in tenth grade, when he left school to find his destiny in translating harry potter. he said he might be a bisexual, and looking back i might have been the reason, but i put an X on any guy who i think might hurt me, or reject me, so i kinda ignored all the red flags, neon signs, and alarms in shapes of too friendly hugs and "were really good friends right?".... i can be dense.
anyways, back to the topic- girls interested in manga anime has no problems with guys interested in manga/anime, it just depends on who we r.
and the word "otaku" is a major turn off.

^^u jealous of my boyfriend...

My best friend's big on anime. She really loves shoujo, all the mushy stuff, loves her fanfics and has even attended (and staffed) a yaoi convention. Her boyfriend... can't stand anime or manga at all.

They get along quite well otherwise, though. I know she'd be a lot happier if he shared some interest in it Hmm.. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are girls out there who would like it if her boyfriend shared the same intersts... but.. sometimes it just doens't work out that way. it's all in who you fall in love with? =/

But guys... are you looking for a girl who's majorly into anime/manga, who can, oh, i don't know, recite every gundam and it's pilot and the voice actors/actresses of her favorite characters, spends all her money on manga, spends hours in front of the computer reading fanfiction (or prints it out and reads it in public), has posters all over her walls of hot anime guys, buys japanese food without any english on it and tries her best ot make it edible? a girl who can hand your ass to you in every fighting game?
Or are you looking for someone who will sit down and watch some anime with you (maybe even subbed!) and enjoy it occasionally, or might pick up your manga and find it interesting and then she'll talk with you about it later? a girl who will watch you play your video games and/or might want to try it too?
I'm saying... does she have to be as into it as you? or will a girl who might not qualify as 'otaku' but might enjoy the occasional anime/manga (even if the anime's dubbed) do? If she can still discuss some series with you, is that not enough?
I'm not trying to ask you to 'settle for less,' but I just wonder what you really want when you say 'otaku'

Well they wouldn't have to be a super otaku but just understand that anime/manga is my hobby and they can't change me for that. Willing to understand, except and maybe even watch a few with me on her free time. Its not like anime/manga is my life its just something I enjoy on my free time. ^^ To me an otaku is someone who enjoys something as a hobby and maybe take it a step up.. a super otaku is another level -_-;;;

@amaranthine - Yeah I was being sarcastic =P. Is it sad that I envy that guys room? Anyways yeah my ex at the time was 30 ^^ I was about 22 at the time =P. Wow didn't think that much time has passed...

Lol... its jsut that i kinda had a bad day.... but normally when im normal... as in normal blood sugar level, i wont have my angry peroids and beat the crap out of anyone that angers me... But im generally a nice guy... i hope. and only reason im pretty much on my last warning is because of these swings... from my blood sugar, but the school knows.. so i've had pleanty of chances and its not usally my fault so they will probably let me off lol
