Agreed! Parents are supposed to fit their life around the child, not the other way around! I understand they would pressure you to make money, but choosing your career for you is baloney. I wouldn't put up with it for even an instant.
PS- I hate my parents anyways.

Still, I agree with those who say parents shouldn't choose your job for you. It's YOU who will be going to work at that job every day, not them!

Er. Well I'm not quite sure you should completely screw your parents @.@ They do have good intentions and they do have a bit of experience.
I guess in the end, take note of their suggestions and consider it while you're choosing paths in life, but don't follow your parents for the sake of following them.

Well sure, listen to what they have to say, they may have some useful thoughts on the matter. But you know, if I'd done what my mom had in mind, I'd be a programmer right now and utterly hating it. 🤣 Just because SHE liked programming & was good at it, didn't mean that I would like it or be good at it!
As it is, I've ended up in a place (job-wise) that I never could have imagined myself. It has its good & bad points...but I don't dread going to work every day, and financially we're doing ok, so it's all good. 😀

I knew I should have expounded on my statement....
What I mean is that whatever you love, do it well so you make a lot of money. I mean if you love to build models, get a job designing them (=$$) not just building them. If you love to paint, work hard to have a good collection and open a show, don't just hide your paintings in the garage. I love manga/anime and video games - I worked to get a job developing manga/anime and videogame related products. Whatever you do, shoot for the top.
Life is tough......but it's tougher if you're stupid.

Don't I have to pay them back, etc..? I have to look after them when they're old! And pay for expensive medication, and their housing, and then... whatever country they wanna go visit.

Oh. Hm I kinda had the same situation actually. I really like astrophysics, but with that BS, you'd have to get a phD in astrophysics to actually do something... Which is teach and research. And I'm not smart at all so I can hardly do research.
Now I'm planning on doing aerospace engineering, so at least I'll be close(!) to doing astrophysics! lol.
Just out of curiosity, but what did you want to go into?
oh that's so cool <3 It's something I'd not imagine a girl to go into.. I mean aerospace engineering.
I'm planning on getting masters degree too, as much as I hate my course...

No. You don't.
Your parents made their decision to have you as a child knowing full well that they were having an independent child.
You owe them nothing. Do what you want, it's what most sane parents want of their children - for them to have their own life.
I can't stress enough that you're going to hate yourself if you're constantly a tool of your parents.

lol well don't think of it as "paying them back" but rather caring for them out of the tenderness of your heart haha.
Mm. Hmm. Well. Is there any subject that interests you in any way? Or at least a narrowing? Like science vs. humanities or something?

If you want to thank them for the gift of life, help them and support them when they retire. You don't owe them anything right out of college! They can't just quit working and depend on you because you have a diploma.
My parents kicked me out of the house at the age of 16. I wasn't even a Jerry Springer kid!
My mom always hated me so I lived with my dad, and when he got remarried he didn't want me around. Also my dad used my college money to buy himself a truck when he had midlife crisis.When trhey retire, they can kiss my a$$.
But in your case, feel free to help them out later- just remember you don't owe them anything.
I think I got us all off topic....we should be talking about female otakus, not why/how to get jobs......

No, I don't think you "owe" them anything. THEY decided to have a child, YOU didn't have any choice in the matter! 😃
I would think more that they have a responsibility to plan for their own future so they'll be able to take care of themselves when they're old. Not to get too morbid, but you (and all your siblings, if you have any) could die tomorrow - and then how would your parents survive old age, if they're just blindly counting on you to take care of them??
Of course if the time comes and they're old & need help and you're in a position to provide it, then you should help them, but I don't think that a child's job is to take care of the parents.

Well, then... "Question for Female Otakus"
The common thing people kept saying is that, girls look for guys who represent the characters we like from manga. What? NO. Because, real guys are real guys. They will make mistakes, and so will I. We totally match ♥
And I love hanging around them more than any other dumb 2D character, no matter how gentlemen they are. Real guys are funnier, anyway.

But on a more serious and relevant note, I agree. I do not in any way compare real life guys to 2d guys. 2d guys are much more shallow and their personality is well 2 dimensional. People in real life are so much more complex and less predictable.
Well what about otaku guys? Do you guys compare us girls to your 2d fantasies?

ATM I can't come up with an exact reason of why I don't. But I think it's safe to say that I'm never going to cross-check a girl in comparison to Haruhi's personality.
