Yes Code Geass is mecha, doesnt detract from it's epicness tho
Main character is a Machiavellian fellow, who is willing to step on quite a few or in this case blow up quite a few people to get what he wants.

Kinda evil main characters:

Vampire Juujikai -> it really depends on the POV tough.
Ares -> two of the main char are definitely not nice.
Shin Angyo Onshi -> he's not your typical good guy, but not evil. He's cynical.

hmm.... Vagabond well....evil?...no i wouldn't call him evil, but he's certainly a murderer and i'd 2nd Code Geass Akumetsu and Hellsing (though i've only seen the OVA)

and i'd add Gekijouban Kara no Kyoukai (anime movies) as well as the sequals.....she's certainly evil incarnate, here's a link if you want to check it out.....
