7zip, open source is the best.

Apparently WinRAR is a popular one, but I heard that it's bad for your computer...

And I thought it was only free for a few days, then you have to start paying 😕

Well, you never did have to pay, even without the crack. All you have to do is wait a little while and then you can press a button that will get you into the program. (Kinda like how mIRC does it, if you know what I mean)

Of course, once you start getting tired of waiting 5 seconds every time you wanna open a file, you go get the crack~

And even with that, if you use the windows pop up menu commands. (argh can't find another way to call them... but you know the menu you get after right clicking on a file)
Winrar adds a couple of useful commands there, mainly: extract here, extract to "folder", and extract each archive to separate folder (for multiple files).
Using those is super efficient and fast, and you don't have to deal with "please register" message...
Well there are even commands for compressing files... the only time you'd have to suffer that message is when you want to use some of the "fanciest" feature of winrar.

Winrar... yep. I've been using some different archivers throughout the years but WinRAR has been nr 1 for 4-5 years now. WinACE and Winzip are old favorites 🙂

I never really liked command line archivers, although one had to deal with them for a while in the early years.

It's called the context menu and the coolest thing is that if you have like 15 archives in one folder just select them all and right click then click "extract here" and it extracts all of them right away like if they were one archive. yeah and winrar's main program window doesn't need to open for this. In fact the window that shows the progress closes by itself.

@otakubaybay Yeah what the hey? It's never crashed my computer or done anything out of the ordinary. I'm interested in knowing how you came to such a conclusion. Include sources please.
😛

WinRar or 7zip. Whichever I remember is there first.

Guess I'm not all that attached to my archiver.

When WinRAR was installed into my computer, I was told it was linking to a site and somehow I got adware, but...

That might just be my dad being a paranoid crackhead 😕 (most likely, lol)

A bit off topic, but...

The other day, my dad just started taking stuff out of my computer. He got rid of a whole bunch of my anime and scans (which I already redownloaded 😛 ), along with WinRAR, Easy Video Splitter 2.1, and utorrent, so he might have been talking about any of those programs...

Sorry if I mixed it up a bit ^.^'''

WinRAR, WinRAR, WinRAR... 😮
You are a winner if you choose this. 🙂

Basically I always use this program.
In the beginning I used WinZIP though,
but I downloaded WinRAR once and came
to the conclusion that I liked it better.

Bleh, I even had periods of time where I just used the
Standard Windows Unzipping program...
Not an experience I want to re-do anytime soon.

Winrar can handle almost all types of archives, so I don't need anything more. I even got used to the annoying window popping up after the trial too.

Well, I have been using winrar for years, and so it's the only one I use. I like the icons better than the ones that winzip uses 🤣

The old times of using pkzip and pkunzip in DOS! That was glorious 🤣
