I think that a creative, original or very unusual title is a work of art in itself. It can even have a kind of poetry to it... 🙂

Plus, has anyone ever noticed that the stories with the most unusual names often turn out to be very interesting as well? I mean, obviously the mangaka is thinking creatively and wants to produce something different... The title can often be an indication of the awesomeness of the manga. I know that they say we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but the title can be pretty telling, can't it? At least it shows something of the compositional ability of the mangaka...

So what do you think is the manga with the most unusual/original title? Something that really made you pause and go: "Whoa, that's a cool title... I wonder what the story's like?" Or something that you can't forget the name of even if it's been ages since you read it, because the name was so rare and stood out so much...

These are some one-shots with very original titles:

Love Story, Killed - melodramatic, but I think adding "killed" at the end was brilliant

As for complete series/collections, I can easily decide on the MOST original title, in my opinion:

And then a title that sounds unusual, but not really great:

I thought that Seduction is More Beautiful than Love was an interesting title.
Though the manhwa itself was nothing special.

I second A, A', The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese, and Sexy Voice and Robo. I like that these titles actually have a lot to do with the plots of these manga and aren't just interesting-sounding nonsense words.

Other titles I find intriguing are:
Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service - Straightforward considering what it's about, but still attention-grabbing.
"A Literary Girl" and a Clown Who Dreamed to Die - Almost a little too artsy/pretentious, but evocative nonetheless.
The Seventh Month in 1999 - Shanghai - Fitting because it's about a fleeting romance that runs out of time and space to exist.
The Voice That Blooms Red - Synesthetic, and sounds better in Japanese with the alliteration.
The Yellow Book - A Friend Named Jacques Thibault

Mama wa Doukyuusei means "Mama is a classmate" in Japanese. In the story, a high school boy is shocked to find that one of his own schoolmates is his stepmoher, who isthe same age as him and is married to his father. Both he and his new stepmother are having a hard time concealing the secret from their classmates.

Oku-sama wa Joshi Kousei means "My Wife is a High School Girl" Onohara Asami is a cute, 17 year-old, 2nd year high school student. What nobody knows is that she's actually already married, to her 25 year old physics teacher.

Mama wa Doukyuusei and Oku-sama wa Joshi Kousei are both the most original and unusual titles for a manga.

What, no votes for Pumpkin Scissors?? 🤣 Haven't read it, but the title is just...very weird...

The World God Only Knows
With such a serious-sounding name I almost expected something good and mature. Unfortunately it turned out to be shounen slop, which I have no problems with because I'm a shallow punk like that.

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru
In short, "Yet The Town Turns". I found the title to be a bit auspicious and that is probably the only reason I picked up the series. The title itself turned out to be very elastic and fitting, somehow staying relevant within the motley collection of stories that make up the series. Throughout it all we realize even small shopping districts in backwater cities are brimming with activity beneath the placid garment.

But meh, who knows, just my opinion.

The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice I actually picked it up because of the title and it turned out to be a very good manga.
Weirdest title ever, though, would be An Inquiry Concerning A Mechanistic Worldview of the Pituitary Gland, hands down. I can't believe I still remember that, it's like a thousand miles long o.O
