Definitely not the phrase I would use to describe him past chapter 30 or so...... he is usually calm but goes into fits of deathrage the likes of which can be only rarely matched by the worst villains to ever appear in manga... and I love it xD
And unfortunately I can't offer anyything new to this cat cuz I've only read a few. But ill second both Noblesse and rurouni kenshin I would start with kenshin cuz its finished and totally ignore the second season of its anime it is total worthless filler crap, so manga, 1st season anime, and ovas or you will start to hate it.
And noblesse is just pure amazing and the epitome for what you're looking for, he has yet to show any kind of physical stress in a fight, and [regis]shows great elegance[/regis] xp... hmm then I'm reluctant to classify him as lazy.... he is too awesome for the word and yet it fits like a glove.... unsure about pacifist level actually, he doesn't look for fights.... but he isn't quite nice to most challengers.
Other than this I can only advise one thing, if u r looking in this super strong protag thing you might find a series that's koga or kogo or something, banchou.... my suggestion, don't ever let your eyes look upon it, it has no story, no realistic fighting, no detail, and the art kinda sucks.... I lost 3 years off my life from seeing it ;-;
