Incest...in RL?!
Quote from Criminal Intent
Actually that's not far from the truth. In Asia and Europe is wasn't uncommon for first-cousins of noble houses to get married in order to keep retain a family's "divine" or "special" bloodline. 🙄
🤣 Yup yup, very true indeed. You can't have the blood of nobles mixing with the blood of commoners, now can you? An interesting take on it is in the novel
The Other Boleyn Girl, by Philippa Gregory though it's for different reasons there...

But I don't view 1st cousins as incest at all. >_> Unless you grew up with them, and have a sibling-relationship with them. Now brother and sister (or brotherxbrother, sisterxsister) that's a whole other deal.

What if they didn't grow up together and knew nothing about each other? This question popped up since I just saw an episode on "Dr. House" about it, and I believe there was a manga about it as well(forgot the title =_=)
Yeah, but the thing is 90% of the time it isn't. 😀 But yeah, I wouldn't view it as incest then.

It's still incest. Look at Oedipus. He didn't know that he killed his father and married his mother, but he did. Still was incest. If a brother was separated from his sister at birth and by some freak occurrence, they copulate, it's incest.

Yeah, I know. I just said I wouldn't view it as incest. 😛 But, technically, it is incest, of course~ 🤣

So if you had a sister you didn't know about, diddled her, and didn't know that she was your sister, and then found out she was your sister, you wouldn't consider it incest?

The seperated at birth or never knowing you had a sibling things have always been a little touchy. I first started thinking about it when I saw it on Nip/Tuck where Matt never knew he had a sister and so happens he slept w/ her numerous times snd was about to go out w/ her before he found out she was his sister. Then I heard the story about the twins in the UK who got married and had no clue they were twins.
Well incest is incest, ignorant of your ties or not. Siblings being together I can kinda understand why some people would feel that way (even though I still think it's odd), but parents and children should by no means share a sexual relationship. 😔
But I was wondering what if the relationship was between 2 family members of the same sex? 😕

incest: : sexual intercourse between persons so closely related that they are forbidden by law to marry; also : the statutory crime of such a relationship

it's still incest

It depends on one's definition of intercourse. In my dictionary, it's defined as heterosexual sex.
Not saying it's not wrong or not incest.

Well I still consider it incest, but I was mainly wondering if you guys felt it was somehow more "wrong".

i don't diferentiate between "incest" and "more wrong incest". Both are equally incest.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. But for some reason it just seems more idk... odd(?) for 2 family members of the same sex to pursue a sexual relationship w/ each other.

Ew, incest. Especially intermediate family incest.
I don't even have close ties with my family but i find that extremely grooossssss!!!!!!!!!
D: only someone without siblings would write sibling incest stuff. lol.
So yes, incest is gross. Anything below 3rd cousin is fine with me, though.

It's incest, but without some of the traditional negative stereotypes attached to it. Or so I think. Yes, it's still incest and such, but it's less horrifying. I mean, if you didn't actually know the act you were committing, it means that it's easier for my mind to handle the gravity of the situation in the first place. It's like someone who participates in a crime without understanding the implications of what they're doing as opposed to knowingly robs a convenience store.
I dunno, I just think that it's less serious if you're not aware of the family connection before committing the act than if you do it knowingly.
