If it weren't for the genetic repercussions, I wouldn't really have a problem... siblings who knew each other all their lives, who are close, mutually take a... new step in their 'sibling' relationship? Tell me exactly what is wrong with that. Brotherly/sisterly love that escalates into romantic love, why's it so bad? Who set the morals to claim it is morally wrong? 😕

I like incest in terms of romances stories to read because it is such a forbidden topic, but i'm not big on digging my own relatives. Genetically it is wrong and is usually associated with rape or molesting in families rather than 'love.' I think if the two family members really love each other then it is fine because I am really not one to judge.

Just cause you are interested in incest doesn't mean you like a relative...

The average person who reads mangas with incest or other "taboo" content don't read it because they are or ever plan to do it in reality. And if they did who cares as long as it's between consenting adults.
Science has proven that children produced from an incestial relationship are not more prone to physical or mental defects then unrelated people unless it is something carried in that families bloodline, but then you stand a chance that an unrelated person may have the same defect.
My point is first understand the facts of the so called taboo before labeling it. Second don't assume that just because someone reads it that they are doing it or want to do it. Human fantasies cover a huge range because thats the way our brains function, 99.9% of us know the difference between fantasy and reality and the other 1% don't need to read or see something to step over that line.
It is quite normal to enjoy reading the "taboos" if you start wanting to try those taboos against someones will, thats not normal go get help.

Incest do happen in RL. But rarely it happen in mutual consent and most of them that goes out to the public are child rape, or forced sex. Well i don't against incest as long it is on mutual consent. As for incest in real life:

I think this whole "incest is terrible" comes from the high chance that children coming out of an incest have a much higher chance of being handicapped and stuff. I don't think that siblings that love each other as a man/woman are something despicable or anything, they just fell in love with each other, it's not like it's their fault. As long as they don't give birth to a child I'm totally fine with it.

And no idea about parent/child relationships, I guess that's kind of not very cool, but I also think it's almost beyond a parent to fall in love with their child and as long as it's not a "consented" relationship, I'd call it rape or abuse.

Oh and, no I don't have any of "those" feelings for any of my family members, though I won't say it's beyond me that I could fall in love with my sister if I had one, for the reasons stated above.

I'm a big fan of incest, but I think it ties into my fetish for all things taboo. Although Ill never think seriously sexually about my sister (sometimes a thought will pass my head and I'll nearly throw up or scream of something) or any other reletive, I love reading and watching stuff about it. Something about things the world hates just intrests me.

I only skimmed through this thread, but to add another example of incest in RL: There's a brother/sister couple in Germany who both fell in love with each other after meeting for the first time. The (older) brother was adopted probably before his sister was born because she didn't even know of her brother's existence (-> Westermarck effect). They met after the brother - at that time 18 years old - wanted to meet his real parents. Well, they got together and have 4 kids together now. Afaik only one of their kids is healthy. And the brother was put into prison several times...

Well, I think it's ok for them to be together because apparently, they really love each other but they should stop making kids >_<'

I do read quite a bit of incest but no to incest in RL. It's okay if you're talking about fantasy role-playing but the real thing? Meh..

I guess a reason behind the attraction of the theme of "incest" is 'cos of the idea of a "forbidden theme".
