I don't want to justify it.
But I don't see incest as a problem.
Well it would depends what kind, between sister brothers, cousins, or whatever, shouldn't be a problem... Between child and parents would still be different though.

Not so long ago, being a man and loving one was a taboo, now, it's not accepted by everyone, but there is some awareness towards it, and it won't shock people as much as before. I kind of think of incest in the same level.

I mean it's just love.
I did have feelings when I was younger for my cousin. It's not my sexual preference (looking for someone related to me), it was just that I liked her, because she was nice to me and pretty.
Was it wrong to feel that way?
Not for me.

honestly tho, the only negative thing i can see if the relationship is completely consenting, is the situation the children are put in. how confusing would it be for your dad to also be your grandfather?

I think I'm more disturbed by the locked up for 24 years. Yea, I wonder if the kids all have Stockholm syndrome and somehow worship their dad/granddad.

Last time I looked up the definition of incest and who was legal (UK, the joys of boredom); brothers/sisters, step-brothers/sisters, parents(by extension your children), grand parents, great grand parents and I think in-laws too, were all illegal and considered incest. Step-siblings and in-laws aren't even related to you, yet it's considered incest to have a sexual relationship with them.

I'm not against incest, but neither would I practice it. I just see it as letting those who want to have the option to.

Cousins are legal here... so are great-great grandparents if I'm reading the information right 😐 probably because chances of living that long and still having a libido are slim to none 🤣 ... actually, just living that long is kinda hard 🤢

On a side note: men can freely go around topless, yet women can't... any girls ever thought to take the law system to court over sexism because they were arrested for being topless? 🤣 It would be much easier to make it legal for women to go around topless than to make it illegal for men.

edit: yeah, that guy in Austria was short a few screws. Consensual incest should be ok though.

Call me sick, but somehow I found that amusing.

But really, this is strange at least ... For sure the women of the guy, she said she had no idea what was happening, her daughter disapearing at 18 and no questions were asked.

I wonder how she will live her life after this incident

Same here. no words on any bit. Oh years -hi found you-
Another strange one from the outback .

Still I have no real problems between consensually and distant relatives, thing.
Just the terms like bro, sis and dad start to blur some.

Good job. Not that I'm saying I agree with you or anything, but you win for actually saying that.

I didn't find it amusing, I thought it was somewhat horrifying. Though that's less because of the incest itself and more because of the children that were born of it. As far as I'm concerned, that's where the real problem with incest lies, in the genetic consequences any children of it would suffer. Not to mention the mom in that case, since I wonder what was going through her head once she found out about it...

if it's true that brother x sister marriage can cause their children into deformation, then we all deformed...

i don't read bible(i'm non-christian), and too lazy to read the middle part of this discussion, but if the story of adam is true, who was cain's wife?

One of his sisters. The argument for it that I know of is that because they had just been kicked out of Eden, they were closer to perfection and, as a result, the genetic strain of having a child with a sibling wasn't the same kind of problem it is today. And, if you are Christian and do believe in the Bible, then you can argue that the amount of time people lived for back then, according to it, just proves the point. Hence, while the relationship was incestuous, its gravity wasn't the same as it would be in today's society.

Well the main argument I hear for Cain was that Adam and Eve weren't the only people created by God so when they were cast from the garden they found other people living off the land.

And marriage between siblings is only mentioned in the Old Testament as part of the new laws for the people of God.It may be mentioned afterwards but my mind's kinda fried from just finishing finals and I'm feeling kinda lazy right now so. 😛

This is random, but anyone read One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez? Although the story isn't true, there were some pagan cultures that practiced incest as a way to keep the royal bloodlines pure.

Actually that's not far from the truth. In Asia and Europe is wasn't uncommon for first-cousins of noble houses to get married in order to keep retain a family's "divine" or "special" bloodline. 🙄
