I'm currently into Tokyo Jihen or Shiina Ringo.
Not sure about your reaction but you should try them out 🙂
They're Japanese BTW.

When it comes to non-american music, I prefer folk music.

Or traditional music, if you will.

Options 1 and 2 assume you're American. 'Foreign' refers to any country that isn't your own (loosely). To me America is foreign.

Non-UK bands I listen to:
Stratovarius (Finnish)
Blind Guardian (German)
Hammerfall (Swedish)

As well as OSTs for anime and games that I like. (Noir, .Hack//Sign, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts)

Yeah, see that's where the problem with labelling music as "foreign" comes in. Literally, if I had to list my favourite foreign bands, it's pretty much all the bands I listen to generally since I'm from Ireland.
Perhaps by "foreign" we should imply "bands that sing in a language different to yours", but then there's the whole problem of instrumental bands...
Sheesh! 😐

American music would still be foreign for me though...

If the language isn't ugly, I'll gladly
listen to it, if the song is good.

Agreed. The reason why I listen to foreign music is really for the music (instruments) part and if the gibberish seems to fit in. Knowing what they're really saying though would be nice though. I can't ever find translated lyrics. It's like fansubbing but less effort.

I have such a broad playlist that I inevitably listen to music from around the world. I'm English so English and American bands are pretty mainstream but I also have easy access to celtic styles as well. I'm also very musical and have been playing the flute since I was 9 so I have listened to classical pieces from everywhere. I particularly like the russian style. Then I have all the anime/game OSTs which lead me to artists like Yiruma and Yoko Kanno. My sister has a lot of african and jamaican friends so I listen to a lot of traditional music as well as the RnB/hip hop type as well.Eurovision sometimes throws out a good foreign band among the volumes of garbage. I also youtube surf so when people have a good song in their AMV I usually add it and maybe more from that artist to my playlist so I have lots of artists from all over the place really. I love variety in my music and what better way to get variety than to listen to lots of different styles.

I love listening to other languages being spoken :T Except Vietnamese and that one other language spoken in Thailand... That one makes me feel stupid, since it sounds like Viet, and I can kinda sorta not really speak Viet xD

I'm not even going to list a Japanese band xD Too many of those...
So far, I listen to: German, Russian, French, English, Taiwanese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Tagalog, and some others... 🤣 I love music. xDD

I mostly listen to British and American, but no. 4 described me pretty well XD

I get them from my friends, especially the japanese music. My friend has loads that I like to listen to on his ipod ^__^
