Huh, I thought exactly the same as Nelo Neko and Stealth 🤣 I'd even thought it was another thread made by Mamsmilk.

I was a rather active public speaker at school (scary), but now I do it out of my own free will - on RPG conventions. It's a quite good feeling, seeing all those people listening to you, really interested in what you say. But when they start to argue... 🤢

Quote from E-chan52

This was inspired by my teacher who said that there are people out there who rather die then speak in front of people. It sounds silly but apperently it's well supported that more people fear speaking in front of a crowd then death itself.

I'm here to find out if it's true or not.

For those who picked "Laughed! xD", you, my friend, is insane.

You know my speech teacher said the exact same thing last week.

I would rather die then speak in front of people. Because last time I spoke infront of a group something happened that changed me life forever. I don't think I could handle it anymore now that the pain of the experience as scarred me for life.

What happened? Did you pee yourself in front of a group? Once I had to sing a song about Jesus on stage at church in front of the whole congregation when I was 8 years old and then I had to pee really bad, but the lady wouldn't let me go, so by the end of the show I had peed in my pants. I was sad and never went to church again. Why did God do that to me?

God hates you. 🙂
Hmm, my life has had many terrible events, yet I am going.
Forward that is, not to church. o.o

I get that feeling sometimes. Once in the bookstore my sister saw the book "A series of Unfortunate Events" and said to me "look, Vince, someone did your biography"

I laughed on the outside, but on the inside I weeped like a little girl. Things have only gotten worse since then.

Yes, I continue to move forward as well. Eventually, I wil lhave good luck in return for all the bad things that keep happening to me.
For instance I found out that my liver disease has gotten a lot better 😀 😀

Back on topic......I have no problem speaking in front of people. I like the attention and it gives me a chance to tell jokes and trick people into thinking I have a really positive attitude.

🤣 You prolly didn't sing good enough?

Hm, I'm curious too. What happened? I took a communication class last sem and of course we always have to talk infront of the class. I had this classmate and it was so* painful *to watch him make a speech. I felt really bad for the guy. You know the quintessential geeky guy in class who doesn't speak? Like that.

My eyes are bleeding. T-T
Yes, I can imagine that.
Sometimes that kind of people
just annoy me when they cannot
state their point of view.

One thing that made it easier to speak in front of a group is that when you actually look out into the audience, you will see that only about 40% of the people in the audience are really paying attention to you.

I have a habit to torture the speaker and stare at him or her
eagerly just to make him or her mess up. >.<

Sometimes when someone I don't like is giving the speech, I make it a point to stare right at them too. I also snicker when I notice a slight speech impediment or other nervous tick. Like when they say "um" or "ok" or "like" at the beginning of each sentence. Also like to comment when they say "you know?" at the end of the sentence, I say "no, I don't" under my breath.

But I only do that to people I don't like. Usually one or two people per class is good for me.

It's not nice to make fun of speech impediments. I have one which doesn't allow me to say words with "R", and the "R" sound usually is a "W' sound instead. I was made fun of it all through Elementary and Middle school and it has caused me to never talk in school at all.

I do that too, but only if I know them.

Waaah, vinceasuma's so evil 😲 I have an accent, but I think that makes people more interested, I think.

I want more embarrassing stories about public speaking.

I wouldn't do that to you, because you seem to be a nice enough person. I only do it to the jocks and such because they sit in the back of the class and make fun of everyone else's speech and ruin it for people who already think the class is hard enough. It takes a person to already be a calous a-hole to make me dislike them. If you had to give a speech in my class I would cheer for you and give support!

Also, I think when a girl makes the "w" sound instead or the "r" sound it's cute. When a giuy does it I hardly notice. I have a friend who's nick is "Plucky" because he sounds like daffy duck when he talks because he collects spit in the corners of his mouth. Not sure what that speech impediment is called tho.

Not all jocks are bad, but then again it might be because I actually go to a school where there aren't too much making fun of going around. There are a few laughs in some classes when I talk, which I can look past that, but if someone actually talks to me and makes comments actually makes me mad. Don't cheer, that would make me nervous and I sweat really bad when I am nervous.

I know, well not actually know as friend but we have common friends, who actually has the seem speech impediment as me and I actually think it is cute with her too. One of my friends tried setting me up with her but I think she gave up on it. Mine is very noticable, but if you talk to me you will notice I avvoid all "R" words, you won't even hear the word "word" come out of my mouth. I know my speech impediment is rhotacism, which is odd because it has a "R" in it so I can't say it.

I had a erection in front of class once, but luckily I was behind a table so no one knew. I carried on my presentation longer just to wait until it went away. I think that was in middle school and it was the worst thing ever because it took awhile for it to go away and I was running out of things to say.
