Would you die or speak?
This was inspired by my teacher who said that there are people out there who rather die then speak in front of people. It sounds silly but apperently it's well supported that more people fear speaking in front of a crowd then death itself.
I'm here to find out if it's true or not.
For those who picked "Laughed! xD", you, my friend, is insane.

I hate public speaking, but like most things, it's not worth dying over.

I used to speak publically at morning assembly quite often in high school in my role as the public relations officer for my school's anime club (I also doubled as the president/treasurer/screening director/tape library manager/room coordinator an teacher/student liason- in short, I ran the entire club myself). I was later told (to my surprise) that I was astonishingly popular because of my lighthearted and totally off-the-cuff manner compared to other speakers and for years after I ran into underclassmen who had never even met me in person, but still remembered my morning addresses. Once, when I was working in a call centre, I rang a guy who recognized my purely by the sound of my voice and my first name and identified me, even though I'd never met him, which was plain weird. I actually quite enjoyed it- although I do get nervous speaking in public, I just throw myself at it and get through on sheer unscripted bravado.
The approach has it's drawbacks though- when I took part in the Anime Idol event at Manifest 2006, I was the only contestant the hosts took a shot at- first my last name was inaccurate (don't ask), then my finals song was too girly ('Sayonara' from SaiKano). She said she was just reacting to my confident stage-presence, so I guess I have no-one to blame but myself.

Well, I would laugh I guess? o.o
I hate speaking alone to the crowd, but it is not
like I cannot do it.

Yeah same here. I've already spoken in public and it's not as bad as it is.... It's only bad when you make a funny and no-one makes a sound. 😢

"Die or speak" 🤣 I hope no one was serious about choosing the first option.
I don't really have a problem with public speaking. 🙂

I'm not anything like the people's champion of public speaking but I'm not worried about doing it either. My trick was only really think about one person and think about talking just to them
@amaran- apparently if public speaking is that scary. that's something I just don't understand

LOL!!!! When I saw this topic I thought it was gonna be about if you would spill out if you were tortured, you know like the inquisition. 🤣
That would make an interesting topic. 😀
As for speaking publicly, I can be freakin loud and I don't have stage fright.

lol... I must admit I though the same too.
And, personally, I've been in the theater club in my school when I was kid. Although, I only joined half heartedly at first. I must admit that after I got to play the lead in the first play we had to do, it reaaaly got my motivation up!
So yes, I had to talk publicly, and even do some weird stuff at the same time lol. So I can say that I don't have stage fright...
I also have to do the presentation of the project I have been working on now. And as I'm someone that doesn't like to leave his fate in the hands of others. I always have to step up and speak for the group.
