Would you die or speak?

Im a teacher... speak in front of people is daily rutine
You know, what's funny is that it's easier to speak to people younger than you. I donno why but I can talk to a group of kids and have no problem with it but adults on the other hand gets me a little nervous.

I guess that it's because most kids are "below" you, and won't attack you, so it's easier... Of course, there are exceptions... (muahahaha...)

on the whole public speaking thing, I had a friend in high school who pick Jimmy V(college bball coach) to do a oral book report on. On the day of the report he realized that he only read about 20 pages of the book. When the teacher remembered what his topic was she said,"Oh I used to live near him. Knew him very personally, me and my husband actually went to his christmas parties all the time." So basically he had to b/s about a guy that the teacher knew everything about. But luckily he is amazing at speaking/writing and b/s'd his way to a B.

I envy those people who BS their way out of everything under pressure. So not me.

I'm usually a quiet person to a bunch of strangers, but public speaking? NO PROBLEM.
But it has to be speaking, not performing... just speaking (I get stage fright if it's performing)
Got no embarrassing stories.... my presentations "set the bar high" because I always go first LOL. So people in my class try to go before me, but they don't want to go first.
I love going first <3

I wouldn't go that far as to die for real, but I really have wished I would just disappear (is it possible to die but not really die? Maybe go into coma and wake up after the presentation is over). I've had to do public speaking throughout high school and college, and the anxiety only got worse and worse each time. I can understand about why some people would choose death. There's more going on however in their minds and lives than just a single problem of public speaking, I suspect. It sucks that I have more anxiety now, instead of less after having to go through public speaking events. And when I have, I have to have everything planned out and written down almost word for word or I am a complete blank. There's absolutely no on the spot wit or candor in me.
I couldn't even fathom the feeling and anxiety from having something like an erection happen in front of people! (nevermind I'm not even a guy) Nothing significant happened to me during a speech or presentation, not vomit or passing out as some people do. (maybe some vomit before)I've done at least a passable job or better. But the anxiety can be nearly overwelming for some people 🙁

i went through my graduation speech pretty well, so i would rather speak....i have a lot of self-awareness, so the major problem for me is that i'm too conscious about my look, so i get more nervous when my hair blows all over the place than when the audience stares at me.....i'd do much better when i don't wear my glasses though....for some reason, i feel more confident and can stare back at the audience when i can't see them clearly 😛

Er, why die just because of some speech?.. I'm scare too but once I start to speak i get confident XD so no need to "die" over it.
Of course people who say "I rather die" is just exaggerating way to express themselves that they don't want to do it.. haha

Oh wow, that's the same with me.
While I do admit that I find oral presentations a hassle, I do manage. And once you start speaking, the nervousness usually goes away immediately. 😮

Depends if it was just read something in front of a large audience I would be fine... if it was a impromptu talk then I'd speak but probably make a bit of a fool of myself 😀
I do get nervous and I think it's something people can tell when looking at me talking in front of them, but I can manage, sometimes I don't even know how I can do it 🤣

I used to not speak to anyone. Whenever I did say something I usually got reactions like "Huh? That kid can talk?"
It's not like I was some feral child or something.
Anyways, I have no problem speaking now. In fact, in school, I liked doing speeches and presentations.
