Description
From Tokyopop: Meet Satsuki, a rather rough and tumble girl who acts more like a yakuza member than a sweet young lady! She's too busy teaching people lessons to see that her handsome and cool classmate, Aya, secretly pines for her. Unfortunately, she just wants to be friends -- ouch! But as they spend more time together, their relationship builds and strengthens. Will they ever be more than friends?! Find out in this sweet and sexy romance!
The description actually has it the other way around. Satsuki is the one who sees Aya as a friend. Aya has been pining for her since Chapter one! This is a totally LOL manga, the story is just FUNNY, the dialogs, the daily lives of the characters. They are delinquents in high school, not bad ones, just young and clueless. This is comedy well done, the characters were never drawn in the silly/dumb way that some other mangakas do to inject humour. To me, Satsuki thinks and acts just like an 8 year old boy, she focuses on fighting, eating, playing, etc. I find myself cheering for her as she energetically goes from one endeavour to the next. She's just a cool and fun girl. But a big part of the comedy also comes from Satsuki being totally oblivious to Aya's feelings for her. The romance is very sweet, Aya is always at Satuski's side trying to find his way through to her. I find myself constantly saying out loud, "oh the poor dude"! , as we see his attempts at opening up thwarted turn after turn, either due to Satsuki's obtuseness, or just strange circumstances/bad luck that hit him, preventing the romance from coming to the open. I usually do'nt have the patience to wait for things to drag on, but i find that the story is funny and ORIGINAL enough to keep my interest going through the volumes. I often wonder what trouble would they get into next, and laugh out loud when i see them get hit with the most impossible of situations. Highly recommended read.
This is one of the better shoujo manga's it isn't to much like the rest of them. This one is slightly more realistic and at some point I can actually relate to what she is feeling. I recommended when you have some decent free time.
