Description
From Scum-Scans: 11-year-old Tsubasa Ohzora transfers to his new school where he quickly becomes the star of the school's soccer team. His Brazilian coach, Roberto Hongo, notices the potential of the young athlete and soon offers him a chance to come with him to Brazil. Young Tsubasa trains more and more and is with each passing game more confident in his abilities. Old enemies become his friends and the World Cup seems closer and closer for him.
Ever read a sports manga? If you've read a sports manga before, then you've already read this. No real plot differences, no real character differences. Oh sure the backgrounds may be a bit different, and of course this is about soccer, but the actual plot and stories could be lifted directly from any other sports manga you might have read. Oh, with one notable exception. In most sports manga, the main character starts off weak, and through spirit and training becomes strong. In this, the main character starts out great. Basically, the only reason to read this story, is if you are a soccer fanatic. If you have only a mild interest, then this really isn't worth reading.
this is one of the best mangas that i've ever read...>.< i practically grew up reading the manga and watching the anime... its a very interesting read even if you're not a soccer fan!! i'd definately recommend this series to everyone XD & once you finish this don't forget to check out the later sequels, they're awesome too
The chore of reading this series is over. I read the first 15 or so volumes with a lot of joy. The next 10 or so with a bit of happiness and the last 12 I fast forwarded through and hoped for better things. They never came. :/
The art is good, if a bit bare to my tastes. The story straight forward with a few minor twists and the real value lies in its characters. A large cast with interesting personalities and somewhat unique outlooks on life keeps the glow going between games.
Basically this is a good story that got old before it was over due to repetition with just another layer of skills on top.
What annoyed me the most was the nicknames the shots and characters got. Reading them the hundred time they didn't seem all that original any more.
I love this series, the first 13 volumes are good, the next 12 volumes are great and then from that point on the series is phenomenal. I'd say it ha the best arc of manga I've ever read, even if you're not a football fan, even if you're not a sports fan, even if you're not a Shounen fan, I definitely recommend this series.
a very good sportie manga in my opinion. i like football and in fact, it's due to this series that i like football XDDD when i was still a brat in middle school. spoil a bit: its got happy ending hehehe. There's a continuous of this series but i like Tsubasa's chibi version more ^_^
