Sweet, sad, hopeful... Perfect for me. Those are the the words that come to mind when I read this. I love Sahara Mizu's art and melancholic story telling style, and I enjoy this child/parent relationship a lot. Not many manga can, or deal with family type manga. But Sahara Mizu does an excellent job portraying this bittersweet manga relationship with her words and drawings.

another hit from my favorite mangaka by elalendi on February 11th, 2009, 3:36pm

Sad, endearing, bittersweet and touching.... blah blah, it's just REALLY good, I recommend it to anyone looking for something different to read. This is a manga that will make your heart ache (in a good way) and maybe make you tear up a little. Even though it says seinen, I'd say it's suitable for shoujo fans and josei fans. And of course the art just completely blows you away, as expected from Sahara Mizu/Yumeka Sumomo.

A little bit of everything. by Crenshinibon on January 15th, 2009, 8:05pm

My Girl is a nice one to read for a few reasons. It has solid art, is melodramatic but not contrived, and some of it is a bit heartwarming. It's both fun and touching, my only real complaint is that occasionally some of the scenes tend to drag, which can induce some boredom, but overall it's worth the read.

It's worth taking your a bit of your time to read this manga. by Harukko on December 2nd, 2008, 3:18pm

I cannot complain nor say anything bad about this manga. It's plot, art and development are simply astounding. I also cried in a few chapters of this manga, because it's simply too touching. And you can clearly see that its not a tragedy or sappy manga because it contains some comic relief. You can also learn about life through it. I really recommend it. I'm even waiting for it to be released in the US so I can buy it, and I'm not saying it just because I love Sahara's manga, although that contributed to me reading this manga. <3

4 chapters in, and I've already cried. Twice... <.< It might be because I also teach a kindergarten class, but this manga really touches me.

So far, I like it.. by fancyultrafresh on September 14th, 2008, 3:59pm

The artwork is beautiful - that was what caught my attention initially. I'm about to buy the comics from Amazon Japan - so I'm looking forward to see the artwork unscanned! The story is very sweet and touching, too. I can't wait for the next update.

Very occasionally along comes a manga and you can just tell it is something special from the start. This seems like it is to me. I only hope it can stay as good as this

Just wow. The story just rings with me for some reason. It really is bitter sweet, it can make you tear up and smile at the same time. At only 3 chapters in, it has already left a permanent impression on me.

Bitter sweet story. As people said here, this manga has really hit my soft spot. Just how sad can this story be?! I love the drawing style and I am a big fan of Sahara Miza. If you like drama, then this might be perfect for you.
