Beautiful art, and the eyes are amazingly drawn. BUT THE STORIES ARE SO UNDERDEVELOPED.

Also, if it's true about the plagerism, this is disgusting.

(I guess there was something about plagiarism? Idk, I'm American and I'm here for the stories, not for the author-related drama)

Butterfly Night was one of the first mangas I ever read (forever ago), and I loved it!! The third story was really sweet, too, considering he didn't jump her like the guys in sensei's other works usually do right off the bat. I skipped the first one, it sounded too weird. :/

I don't think this manga deserves a low rating because the art is so beautiful & the 3 stories were flawless. Yes she had a plagiarism case before but the rating should not be subjective & should be relevant to the 3 stories. Anyway I will definitely recommend this to all shoujo lovers out there who like decent story & beautiful art.

Almost ditched

Almost ditched this one.
I started reading chapter one and it was really entertaining and I was thinking hell yeah this is gonna turn out great but then it came to the conclusion of the manga and the mangaka screwed it all up.
Why do mangaka always have to make it so the main character's hidden secret was known all along? It's sooooo boring and typical.
I was mega disappointed with the end of the first one. The art was nice though.

The second story I remembered reading a while back and really liked. The art was nice, the characters were good and the plot was interesting - also it did not end in a hateful way like the first one.

The last story was fair. It was a nice plot with good characters and as always the mangaka has a nice art style.
What I think it most noticeable from this manga though is that all of the stories are extremely predictable which is a shame because they had potential.

Plagiarism, that's what caused 78 voters against 'Butterfly Night'. But so what...That's what made me read Kayono's works. I admit, no one would like to get their works plagiarised. But that shouldn't affect the quality of the manga. In fact, I havent read Kazusa Takashima's works but seeing that people love them, I just can't see why this has to be fought over. Shinobi no Onna itself as a whole is a great story. I loved Butterfly Night's art the most in this series( though not the best considering all of Kayono's works). I was so interested in this plagiarism stuff that it drove me to read the one shot that alot of people loathed. I made up my mind to be one of those people who'd hate it. But in the end, it lead me to read every work of Kayono that's been scanlated.
Art and Law are two different things.
Law can affect the way people see a specific Art.
But Law cannot change someone's Art.
A lot of stories are plagiarised, based upon, or even so similar. But why does Kayono's plagiarism be such a big deal?

i have to say i laughed when i saw the amount of ppl who voted 1 for shinobi no onna i think alot of it is out of malice because of the court case i totally get it.TAKASHIMA Kazusa is an amazing mangaka. but that said this is actually quite a good manga. i've read this over 5 years ago and i can still remember it quite well. i think its one of her better works actually. the art is beautiful the storyline is nice and sweet.

Great Collection

I like to avoid mentioning the lawsuit when I review Kayono's work. It simply isn't relevant to the majority of her work. However, it can't be avoided here. "Butterfly Night" is the one-shot that was accused of being plagiarized. I admit, the plagiarism case makes me shudder a little when I read "Butterfly Night" - which had previously been one of my favorites of Kayono's work. I'm going to decline from actually reviewing that one-shot, as my feelings are very conflicted about it.

However, let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. The other two one-shots in this collection are very good. "Secretly a Woman" is definitely a different take on gender-bending and on the host shoujo cliche. I very much like it... and wish it had been a series, instead of just a one-shot. I really liked Renka-san's character and would've loved to see more of this couple.

"Lovers in the Tower that Touches Heaven" is a touching story. The plot twists and turns just right, the characters are likable and the art is lovely. I really do like Kayono's "Arabian Nights" styled one-shots. This is one of my favorites.

So in short, yes, she was accused of plagiarism and the case was thrown out of court. The comparisons and evidence of the plagiarism can be found easily online. You can make up your own mind, based on the evidence, and decide for yourself whether you want to read this volume or not.

I can't say anything more about the plagiraism that hasn't already been said, and I agree with it all. It's sad and unfair. But if I hadn't known about the plagiarism beforehand I would have truly liked this.
I also feel a need to rate this based on normal standards, hence my 9.

As Kayono's works go, this was one of my least favorites but not horrible (except for the... above mentioned... *sweatdrop*). The first story was also my least favorite out of the three. I enjoy Kayono's Arabian Nights series. I also felt the art was weaker in this volume than her other works.
As usual, everything is wonderfully smutty. I've heard a lot of complaints from people who have read Kayono's work ABOUT the smut, but that is the point of her works; it's one of those you don't like it, don't read it genres.

Sure this mangaka can draw but it's totally wrong to copy ideas from other people and getting away with plagiarism. And on top of that she has to take away someone else's right to draw--Kazusa Takashima can't publish any new works because she sued Kayono for copying her work/ideas including this manga. This is just messed up. Taking ideas out of other people's work and getting away with it is unbelievable...

its true the art is very beautiful...but it seems that Kayono copied some people's work..but thats not what i amk to comment on right now..ill get to that later..

1st story- the gender bending thing became a little realistic...i like it..but it was all so fast..
2nd story- it was weird..he raped her but then in the end she saved him?? well...lolzzzz...if it was me i would let the two of them die and i would take over everything myself...fufufufufufufu...
3rd story- it would have been very romantic if ruby's boobs is not shown on almost very page...i mean the guy didnt do her!! i mean he was so pure that it was surprising!!!that said i like this story the best...

then about the kayono plagiarism case...that was just so low and disgusting so after reading this one...i will not support the mangas she writes anymore...this person should show a little shame!!! and i just read Diamond Head so i more into the justice side now!!! <great manga btw>
