Only for a certain audience

This manga is more like a gateway manga that introduces people to the world of comics. It's not that great or complex, but that's its charm for those new to the shoujo genre. Especially little girls. Girls new to this might just love Charisma Doll.

But for me, this dreaded manga is a terrible bore... because I've already read at least 4 other similar stories with similar looking characters. Plus, I've already had my taste of true masterpieces, so this no longer impresses me to say the least.

Overall, this series is pretty fluffy and nothing overly dramatic happens. The comedy isn't the creme of the crop either. However, because of that, most of the people reading the series probably won't feel grossed out or anything.

The romance is pretty simple. And the plot "twists" predictable. If you are veteran reader, don't bother with this unless you really have nothing else to do.

I loved this series, like a couple of years ago to the point I *gasp* reread it (OMG)! Anyway, now that I read it again, nope, it's just plain. I think this will be nice for people are are newer to the shoujo genre, it's actually more decent than some. If you are reading 200+ shoujos already, I would steer away. What more can I say, everyone else already said it, just read it if you're bored...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Sala: *Takes off wig* I'm actually your classmate, Sara!
Hayase: *Gasp*

...Not impressed- but obviously not aimed towards my type of audience so Imma spare most of the ranting.
You've got your Mary Sue and Gary Stu in a simplified buisness world. It's inconvincing, it's lame. I'm glad it was just 2 volumes long. It wasn't that BAD per say, but let's just say it left me bored and eye-rolling.

If you're looking for a happy, snappy, not-much-of-a-plot manga, here you are. If not, I suggest you back away...

Surprisingly Good Sums it Up

I honestly didn't think this was going to be good. It's not an original plot and trust me I haaate cliches, but it was actually really enjoyable! It might have been because all the characters were likable and there was no artificial drama or abuse to try to make their personalities more interesting. The main character wasn't one of those whiny characters either. It was a fun, cute, quick read! :]

A charming, lighthearted little story I like reading when I'm sort of feeling like fluffy. The story's not complex (which is good; if it were, it'd be pretty hard to follow), and the characters are sweet.

this is another favorite manga of mine by Kirahashi Erika (the other one is Max Lovely). i agree with most of the reviewers, it is indeed not a unique story. however, it is still enjoyable. i really admire Sala/Sara since she's not some whiny-weak heroine and Hayase because he's a likable character. the artwork is amazing as usual. the only problem that i once again had is it's too short to my liking. i was depressed when it ended. *sigh*

overall, another manga that i truly recommend. biggrin

I agree with Kevadu's comments. No, the story isn't unique, but it was at least decently well done. The heroine isn't whiny; she actually stands up for herself. The hero isn't an arrogant jerk; he actually cares for her. It's a nice light romance, with a slight undertone that just because someone is a rival, that doesn't mean you can't be friends, and it's OK to be yourself.

This is a light-hearted story, and the length is just right to keep that tone. If it had been longer, it would've probably become too angsty, heading down the even more cliched road of dealing with bitchy fangirls and such. As it is, you can get lost in the happy story that's cliche, but not overly so.

Pretty typical shoujo, but the girl isn't a total pushover and the guy isn't a jerk so I enjoyed it more than most. It loses points for originality, though. The whole androgynous pop-idol theme has been done to death. But if you're into that sort of thing you'll probably like this one.

i must say it didn't kept me on my feet or at least cast a spell on me... it's like im just lookin' it into bunch of pictures... it may have been only 2 or 3 chapters if the mangaka hasn't drawn the faces of the characters big enough for a whole page.. sometimes the scene just the doesn't require it!!! if you want a good gender bender, just read ouran high school host club you'll instantly fall for it!!!
