I love Tohjoh Asami sensei as well as mature, dark, even disturbing stories, but this was just not good.
It's old so the art isn't really good yet, including many awkward and odd looking panels and weird facial expressions.
The storytelling isn't good either; it left me confused a lot, wondering what's going on, and the question 'why?' comes up a lot, because I cannot understand why characters act the way they do at all.
There's no depth, it's rushed, random, all over the place and the characters are very unlikable and shallow.
Certain aspects or themes, such as the kid sleeping with his mother... well that's something that actually happens in the world, there's boys being raped or forced into sex with their own mothers, so it's an interesting topic.
The plot itself isn't bad, it's rather stereotypical, lots of abuse, trauma, step brothers in love and all that... but the execution just didn't do it for me.
Both the art and the storytelling flow and skill gets better in the 2nd volume.
If you are a fan of the mangaka, love manga with a big focus on abuse, and/or don't mind the typical oddness and randomness and quirky story-flow of 80s/90s manga, then go ahead and read it!
If you want a really captivating read, or something where you can feel and suffer with the characters and be all drawn in, or good sex scenes for that matter, then look elsewhere.
