Dinosaur Eyes …
by toastmuncher

Rating: 7.0  / 10.0
Really, I am not kidding. There are panels where Fukatsu’s pupils are dinosaur shaped. And this is probably the most interesting aspect of this manga. The story line is so, just so, bland. Even 5th graders (ones who are tolerant and open to other sexualities) are much more creative. The art is fine, not bad but really not good either as the facial expressions are limited in their variety.
I am happy that nothing crazy, non-consensual, or just WEW happens. But I also expected more because the question of a gay person going out with a bi or hetero is an extremely thorny one. The manga failed to interrogate this angel in any interesting way at all. The emotional labour which the characters perform is almost non-existent.
Well, I do wonder now if I didn't particularly like this since I had higher expectations I really do feel that Tenzen-sensei can really do a much better job.

Realistic 'Slice of Life'.
by Yankee-chan

Rating: 7.5  / 10.0
Well, I can understand, how some may think this isn't an interesting read, but - If you like 'Slice of Life' stories, then I would recommend this Manga any time.

The storyline is realistic and the characters, too. They are not packed with lots of quirks or unusual sides, their behaviour is like that of most people out there and yet still full of emotions. Sometimes they don't know, how to express themselves or how to face the other one, but that's what I liked. Not every relationship ends well and it can be hard to move on or to let go, as shown in this story.

The drawing style is clean, but not especially remarkable in my eyes. However, sometimes "Keep it simple" also works well for artists and this time I would agree to that, since it matches the atmosphere of the setting.

Last but not least, the included oneshot is a nice way to end the volume and not a bad read, although the plot (Health teacher & student) isn't something new in the genre. This being said, if you don't mind awkward moments and characters, that are not all over the counterpart right away, but have been in a relationship before, then you could give this work a chance. ^^

Idk what to say rather than I hate the characters, hate the story, and the uke's appearance. I know if u dont have anything nice to say, better not say it at all. Well, I just throw it out there. It will kill me if I keep it in.

The plot is all over the place and the main characters are not interesting at all. I feel frustrated because the story is not well developed for me to care for this manga. All there is is pretty art.. *so disappointed*... Furthermore, the character with the stupid beauty mark is really annoying.

Very interesting! biggrin Such a reckless couple! That's why i love it.
The story is so sweet. The plot is very easy to understand and flow with ease. Didn't beat around the bush and continue to try to fix the conflict. Pretty sweet~ ♥

The negative one

Ok so with such good comments below I feel bad to be the one to give a negative one, but I didn't like it. I dunno, maybe it just wasn't my thing.
For me, it just wasn't very exciting. Neither of the characters had any appeal, especially the curly haired one. And the confession wasn't very emotional because it seemed to come by surprise without any base.
Once they had their first night together I thought, well they've got together once now, not sure I can be asked to read any more.
So all in all, wasn't really worth it imo. Only thing I liked about it was the art.
In this manga's defense, I ditched the manga so I didn't read it all the way through - perhaps it got better? However, a manga that doesn't grip you from the start has already failed for me.

fairly realistic; recommended

this is probably tenzen's most realistic work. rihito feels like a real person, and his emotions, fears especially, seem real as well; particularly in japan where the pressure on people to be "normal" is so much higher than in the west. kanda on the other hand is a more idealised fantasy object, complete with that stalkery persistence that seems so popular in manga -- the notion that if you just hang in there long enough, and push yourself on the other enough, the other will come around to liking you -- that generally seems to me with my western sensibilities more creepy than cool. kanda's feelings are more of an enigma. luckily he isn't very far on the stalkery scale though; i like that he's not particularly forceful but instead more patient, and that he is quietly observant when it comes to rihito. mind, we get some emotions from kanda, but for example, we get nothing from him pondering what it might mean to be bi -- we get to see a lot of rihito's fears about that, but kanda seems to just shrug it off as immaterial. and while i enjoy "gay for you without hesitation" in the realm of fantasy, just like i enjoy his reaction to rihito topping; the manga sets itself up to be realistic, and it therefore bothers me that he's not thinking about it at all. not knowing much about his feelings is what keeps me from rating the manga at the very top; i want to see emotional reactions and thoughts about those from both people.

it doesn't help that conversation seems to be nonsensically weird in some important scenes. usually i have few problem with AF's translations (though the flow is sometimes clunky), so maybe it's the mangaka's doing, but it makes me think i should grab the raw.

but anyway, i sound more critical by pointing out what bothers me than i actually am; i thoroughly enjoyed this manga, and would recommend it, especially for newcomers to BL, as one of the better works in the genre.

I really enjoyed this one by Momoko sensei, the art was beautiful, the story very touching and emotional. Rihito seemed so real, his emotions and pain. I was worried that it wouldn't be a happy ending, but I loved it the way Manger-san handled, and the progessed. It seemed very real and believable. A great read, would recemend to any yaoi fan out there smile

Highly Reccomended!

This manga is simple, but great.

I love how the uke is emotionally strong and assertive, but still very cute! He's not a festive ball of blushes and tears, just waiting to be swept away like we see so often. His personality really stands out!
The seme's likable as well. He's cool and determined without without seeming creepy or mean. And he's really casual about things, which is refreshing.

Refreshing, that's a good way to describe this manga. If you haven't picked it up, put your doubts aside and read it because I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Wow -- This manga totally surprised me!
I had seen lots of recommendations, but the rating threw me off, and the summary didn't sound interesting.

Then I actually read it...
Wow. It's definitely my favorite manga by this author. In fact, it's so different from her previous manga that it might be better to compare it to Arashi no Ato or Doushitemo Furetakunai -- because there's a lot going on under the surface in this story. She says herself that she worked much harder on this one than on her previous manga -- and it shows.

I think my favorite thing is that we find out so much about Rihito's past, and why he does the things he does. He seems completely blase and uncaring at first, but he has such powerful emotions -- and they're totally believable. He reminds me a bit of Ono in Antique Bakery, except that he's more fleshed out.

I'm really looking forward to Tenzen's next manga, now -- I'd love to see what she does next!
