Description
From Dark Horse:

When Soah's impoverished, desperate village decides to sacrifice her to the Water God Habaek to end a long drought, they believe that drowning one beautiful girl will save their entire community and bring much-needed rain. Not only is Soah surprised to be rescued by the Water God-instead of killed-she never imagined she'd be a welcomed guest in Habaek's magical kingdom, where an exciting new life awaits her! Most surprising, however, is the Water God himself... and how very different he is from the monster Soah imagined.

Very good plot. by LUEser on January 19th, 2010, 12:15pm

One thing I like most about the characters Mi-kyung created is that Mui (the "hot" male character) is not obsessed with himself, he's not conceited, arrogant or stupid. He's smart, charismatic, gentle, and most importantly: he has a weakness. Yeah, at first, he didn't give a shit about Soah at all because he barely knows her. But thank god he has a few people to prove to him that Soah can be important to him. He's not your typical shoujo/shounen guy where he trips about everything or he thinks he can get anything just because he's hot. He doesn't use his looks and he doesn't take advantage of people. In fact, I really like the fact that such a good-looking character can be so soft and trust all these people who's stabbing him in the back.

I do like the fact that this is a change of pace of what I've been reading. I've been reading stories where 200 guys like one girl (such as Fushigi Yugi), or where 200 girls like one guy but he's too rich to care. This is one of the first manwha (haha, don't even know if I spelled it right) I've liked reading. This manga has only three girls who are all in love with Mui but notice that their presence takes that of 200 already. The strong emotions (love, betrayal, jealousy, loyalty, etc.) are all portrayed equally, not one over the other and that's what draws me in.

The only thing I'm somewhat confused is that new characters are introduced too soon and too fast that I often lose track which character belongs to which name, haha.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
I don't think some characters even have an important role (such as Chunhoo who was a fortune-teller back in her world), Bi Reom (not sure if that's his name but he's the wind god that Mui claimed was pitiful because the emperor kicked him out), and even more, Hooye. At the beginning, he did have a strong role, but now that the plot's changing (especially Nakbim VS Soah, the emperor VS Mui, and Soah VS Mui), Hooye has no part anymore. The only thing that keeps him around is that the emperor officially announced he will be marrying a kidnapped Soah from the Water Country.

But atlas, for some reason, I fear the ending of this manwha is coming soon. By the time I was done with volume 9, Mui was already fighting against himself if he should follow Soah, the one who made him seek the future, or Nakbim, the one who made him stick to the past. A very good book so far, recommended to anyone with an open mind about gods and goddesses, a love stuck between the present and the past, and especially recommended to anyone who's always in awe and rather speechless by the time s/he's done with one chapter. Haha, not someone who's always going to be cursing which one Mui should be with. bigrazz

not so bad by turnip head on January 17th, 2010, 8:23pm

exciting it isn't, but the artistry is lush and lovely (despite the facial features being a little [a lot] cold) and the plots and intrigue expected at a royal court are dramatic without being eye-rollingly so. it's soap-opera-ish but taken down several notches. i don't think Mui is a two-timer and i don't hold too much sympathy for Soah. Soah isn't pitiful, and i like that. the male lead has weakness- i like that as well.

it actually felt like i floated through the first few chapters and i couldn't quite catch the plotline that floated right above my head, vague and indirect. i get that a lot with manhwas. but things are thickening- the plot *does* move. and i'm definitely interested in knowing what will happen next. i thought the flashbacks pretty much scrapped any ideas of a wicked mother-in-law. and the only outright evil character so far has been the one pulling the strings.

Just Complicated by redjami0 on January 6th, 2010, 2:12am

Thhis is a very complicated manwha, in the middle I was getting annoyed, but I continued to read it because there were so many twist in it and the twist just keep coming. What I really like about it even though it's mainly serious there are some good funny parts in there. Yeah there are alot of flashbacks, but they are just feeling the story we don't know and they are informational. The art work is simply beatiful.

I have been in a mix as to who I want Soah to end up with, Habaek is a two-timer and I feel bad for Hooye who is always getting the short end.

truly by Bebe~ on January 3rd, 2010, 2:21pm

The plot is complex indeed. There are many secrets waiting to be revealed. Nevertheless, the art work is amazing. One of my favorite manhwas of all time. I love how she puts so much detail on little things (and important things). I really can't wait for this manhwa to be completed! I'm looking forward to the development of her characters.I hope it won't turn out to be a disappointment because I have such high hopes for it.

Not an eveil mother in law plot by John21 on January 2nd, 2010, 5:13pm

I think everyone has mentioned how beautiful the earth is. Probably the best manga artwork of all time. The plot is ok. It is not a evil mother in law plot or wateva rather it is quite complex. However just because it is complex doesn't necessarily mean its really good or anything. Every single character here really do have their own agendas and own selfish purposes. So much drama here which really overshadows the romance. Not much romance really. I mean the chapters where Soah and Habaek have been separated by far outnumbers the chapters that they have been together really.

Meh by Uchiha-Sakura on December 2nd, 2009, 5:47am

The manhwa is pretty, but the storyline is meh-ish. You learn next-to-nothing about the characters throughout the story after the first couple of chapters, and then whilst reading, you come across this weird mother in law and you're like... wtf is going on? The art is beautiful yes, but the story sucks, some parts dragged over like 2 volumes. She needs to get a new writer, seriously.

Awesome by Arenne on November 27th, 2009, 8:16pm

I generally don't read manhwa, because so far the ending has always annoyed me. This one though caught my interest and i broke my rule (i'm actually buying it). I LOVE it (still mildly worried about the ending though).

For those of you guys who have said that there has been no character development since the early chapters, or that the plot line has not developed, i only have one question. Are you sure we are reading the same manhwa?
The characters are very complex, especially in regards to loyalties and their true personality. The sheer amount of layers that have been built on these characters is impressive, more impressive by the fact that it seems natural.
The plot as been progressing, with many twists and flashbacks and perspective changes. There is sub-plot upon sub-plot upon sub-plot. I think it is a masterful work, which has been very cleverly created and layered.

I can't wait for more (happy ending happy ending), and I have to add that i LOVE the artwork.

Stunning art by thebikernun on November 19th, 2009, 8:30pm

The art work is stunning. The whole sixty chapters so far have been visually captivating. The story has had some interesting twists and I'm looking forward to finding out what will actually happen.

Plot is lacking by envywine on October 17th, 2009, 9:09am

It's very pretty, yes, but 60+ chapters in, and nothing's. happened. yet. You know exactly as much about the characters as you did as when the chapter was in the teens, and there is only a vague ominous rumble due to the tired, rehashed "evil mother-in-law" subplot. There's nothing overtly bad about this manhwa, but the author needs to sharpen her writing skills.

good at first, but then.... by ruthii9 on October 6th, 2009, 9:15pm

The art is gorgeous and consistent, I give it full marks. I can say otherwise for the story line and the characters. The story line over time gets pretty dull. The characters seem interesting at first, but again, as the story line progresses, none of the characters have developed and their reactions to everything is predictable. It's just like GodofMadness said, they have minimal facial expression. They look like beautiful statues. :\ It's a mediocre story with great art (although the body drawings are too elongated and awkward at times). I'll still keep at it. I want to see Soah and Habaek get together. The 'love square' is irritating but so Korean...so I try to ignore it as best as I can.
