Description
Yuri, a modern day teenager who had just received her first kiss, is suddenly whisked away to ancient Anatolia where an evil queen wants her for a blood sacrifice. Luckily, the timely intervention of Prince Kail saves Yuri from the queen's grasp. For now. Kail promises to send Yuri back to her home, but the queen's persistent schemes to kill them both, plus their growing interest in each other, keep those plans delayed.

Note: Contains a side story called Orontes
Renka
that is published in the final volume (28) of Anatolia Story, which is set in the same historic period.

(Datenshi Blue's vol 28 does not include Orontes Renka. Instead, it was released separately by ShoujoMagic.)

In 2001 this series won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shoujo.

Anatolia is an awsome manga. My favorite. The plot and characters are all really great. The drawings are very well done too. It's also really long so there is a lot to read.

I enjoyed this alot, it kinda reminded me of Kanata Kara where the main character is whisked away to another world against her will. Though unlike Kanata Kara I thought the main character and the plot overall were much better.

I definately agree with the last reviewer that the main character Yuri is a little annoying at first. However contrary to what I thought she does not stay totally helpless and depending on the guy throughout the story (though the number of times she needed to be saved annoyed me quite a bit). She accomplishes quite a bit by herself as she adapts to the situation she is placed in and eventually learns USEFUL stuff in the story (like learning how to fight), as opposed to the heroine in Kanata Kara, who screamed her head off or cried in a difficult situation.

While the art is a little old fashioned, the story more than makes up for it. The world in Red River is very enjoyable to read about and kept me addicted well until the latest volume. I really wan't to read more!

pretty interesting story.. so far that i've read... (only 2 volumes) but the first 2 volumes show what an idiot that girl, yuuri is.. sigh... i hope she gets some brains and becomes more mature and level-headed later... though she does have a pretty good heart... SIGH... it's almost a sin for her to get by being so brainless... it's all thanks to the prince kai that she can survive... she'd better do something important later... else i can't carry on reading...

A great historical romance. Although the story could have ended at several points, it is still interesting enough to keep reading. The main character does not seem to have a big conflict between "modernity" (modern technology and politics) and the historical setting, so the fact that she is from another world seems pretty pointless. Still, a great read!

Because there's no such manga that I yet to call as "perfect manga" or I doubt it would even exist..maybe in heaven? However, because Anatolia Story is one of the very good mangas I've read!! I love it..but as I said I can't give 10 to it even if it's one of my most favorite mangas!

I started out liking this series quite a bit, regardless of its flaws. Now, after having read 13 volumes I feel it skipped 4 possible endings due to popularity. It simply feels drawn out now, the next plot and twist feels like the last and nothing has been resolved.

Not to mention the extreme stupidity that they use in many cases, as well as the lack of proper education the main girl has. If you know how to make one modern day thing from beginning to end you could totally change the position of your country, but does she know something as simple as a bellows? No...
