Description
Being in love with your straight sempai isn't easy, but being in love with your straight, homophobic, and (to top it off) tyrannical sempai can be hell! And that's something Tetsuhiro Morinaga can relate to... especially now that he's had a taste of the forbidden fruit!

Features the same homophobic brother from Challengers, but this time as the main character!

Contains an extra story called Bokutachi no Shippai in v.5 featuring Masaki and Morinaga's big brother Kunihiro.

The main story is complete with volume 8, but Hinako Takanaga has started writing another volume or two's worth of side stories.

The handwringing about this series is getting annoying

This manga has pretty art, lots of hot sex scenes, and a slow, emotionally satisfying progression of the main relationship. It's also true to the genre convention in which the seme is so overwhelmed with love and lust for the uke that he rapes him. The protesting, reluctant uke secretly wants it, of course, but he's too proud, repressed, and in this case too homophobic, to admit it. Then they both angst about it, the seme feels guilty etc.

If you like this trope you'll probably like Koisuru Boukun, since the manga's practically built around it. In addition to that you get to witness Tatsumi and Morinaga building a life together - moving in together, getting involved with each other's family issues, thinking about the future. It all unfolds at an even, satisfying pace, and nothing is rushed.

Some women find non-con hot. The concept shouldn't be that hard to grasp. This manga is for this type of women. If you don't want to read non-con, don't, no one's forcing you to. Rape apologisists suck, but so do righteous busybodies who try to control women's sexuality. Just do us all a favour - go find yourselves a nice, 100% consensual yaoi and stop fingerwagging at the rest of us.

Well I think a lot of BL manga has rape, but what ppl say here i think the same if he Souchi was rape he would go and stayed away from Morinaga but he didnt, he justa stay by his side and
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
even live together
so if you dont like it at the beggining dont read it, but you are dropping a great manga, I even cry because Souchi is so square :C
Is it really completed?

I can understand why someone would have an issue with this manga but if you pay attention to the characters and situations you'll realize that Souichi's later feelings weren't a product of Stockholm syndrome or anything of the like. I think we can all agree that the first sexual encounter IS rape and can only be classified as rape but Souichi was the one who sought after Morinaga after the initial encounter. It's unfair to say this manga is "the worst thing that ever happened to BL", or is "garbage" solely because you can't look past the premise. I'm an avid BL reader, and a manga reader in general and this is hands down one of my favourites. Though Souichi's denial can get rather tiresome at time it's only because I just wanted to see them be fat and merry (so to speak) asap. The characters are well developed and the story line is both humorous and refreshing. The characters and their antics grow on you and you can't help but root for their well being as the story progresses. I feel that the best part of this manga is that it takes on a side of rape that isn't really portrayed by various forms of literature. While you may think it's absurd for someone to be taken advantage of and continue to be around the perpetrator, let alone continue to maintain a sexual relationship with them, it happens. There are always two parts to a scenario so it's rather silly to chastise the story solely because it doesn't follow the standard reaction. I don't cosign for sexual abuse, nor do I deem it appropriate it any way seeing as how I've been through it several times yet I feel like I'm the least offended compared to a lot of other reviewers.

Love it or hate it

Well I love this! For me the only thing that annoyed me was Souichi's constant denial, it dragged out a bit too long. But there was quite a bit of humour and a lot of cute moments too which kept me interested XD Though after reading everyone else's reviews I can see it's quite controversial, so it all depends on your own personal tastes really.

I do understand why some people have issues with this because of the non-con and blackmail, though I think it handles the rape much better than a lot of BL. Both people involved react the right way afterwards (Morinaga is deeply regretful and Souichi is furious). As for the blackmail... well it seemed clear to me a few chapters in that it was just an excuse on Souichi's part. Morinaga even said he didn't want him to feel as though he was being emotionally blackmailed, but Souichi still wanted to use "blackmail" as an excuse as he was having trouble coming to terms with his feelings. After all, a homophobe falling in love with someone of the same sex is obviously going to be hard to accept! Besides if you're raped by your closest friend you don't beg them to stay and agree to sleep with them regularly just to keep them in your life. For someone as strong and violent as Souichi, if he didn't want it then he wouldn't have accepted him all those times, no matter how "special" Morinaga was to him. So the way I see it Souichi just needed to rely on using "blackmail" as his escape route really, as he was so deep in denial. Also after the initial rape Morinaga does do the right thing by attempting to cut himself out of Souichi's life as requested, but it was Souichi who stopped him. So as he willingly did that, and willingly offered his body I don't see that as blackmail or rape as he chose to do it (Admittedly their first time definitely was rape, then it moves on to consensual - with some denial mixed in. In my opinion.)

So this really depends on how you view it. Though I do think you should read the entire manga before forming an opinion either way, as both the issues are properly addressed later. (Vol 3 ch 4 is a particularly vital chapter.)

Ultimately it's your choice if you like this or not :]

Scanlation incomplete as it is now...

A lot of the extras that are included in the actual published volume and the last chapter of volume 8 hasn't been scanlated yet so I don't get why people said it is. This pisses me off. I hate it when people think once the main arc has been translated, the series is considered as done. It is not. Just leave the status as incomplete, whoever is interested can pick up where it is left off.

The scanlation status refers to the actual published official book/volume, not just the story.

I'll say it in a few words. If Yamane Ayano's serie Finder is such a beloved one and it's all about rape (without funny stuff or an actual plot) how can peolpe say things like this one is horrible? This manga is simple, funny, cute and sexy. Do Morinaga rapes Souichi? Well, if you're raping someone you don't prepare them and try them to feel good. But if you want to consider it as raping and Morinaga a serial rapist (WHAT THE BLOODY F*CK?), ok go ahead, but you'll have to admit that it was only one time. Blackmail? HECK NO. How can you blackmail ANYBODY with "I'll go away if you don't do it with me" If it were me I would just laughed at him and kicked him 'till dead...
But well. YOU that you're interested in reading this beautiful manga, do it, it's great. I'm a comedy lover, I know what I say. If you're looking for some really realistic or melodramatic stuff this isn't for you, but if you're on the search of a good, funny, sexy and with-a-good-plot manga this is a MUST.

PS: The comment below mine... I have read the mangas she recommends...they're average, if you want quality manga don't read them, they're good for just...spending time reading a not-bad-manga but nothing memorable. Do you want good comedy? Read Natsume Isaku, Naono Bohra (hehehe, some of her works are kind of bizarre...but they're fun) Tomoe Fumi, Nekota Yonezou, Abe Akane, Madarame Hiro, even Nakamura Shungiku, Honto Yajuu etc, they are all great mangakas and mangas. Do you want drama? Yoneda Kou, Hidaka Shoko, Yugi Yamada, Sakuraga Mei, UnderGround Hotel, Totally Captivated,Kyuuso wa Cheese no Yume o Miru, Haru wo Daite Ita blablabla.

This was the most disgusting manga I've ever read. Rape is in no way something "fluffy" or "cute." If you thought this was good, then I suggest you really think about what you just read. Don't just read manga and let it pull you around by the nose. Think about what you're reading and question things.

You want some manga that is entertaining, consensual and has a better plot than the whole mess this manga is? Well, I suggest you try Honto Yajuu, Konbini-kun, Kimi Note or even Kanjou Spectrum (though it's just Shounen-Ai). Just.. do yourself a favor and read anything but this. Don't let the ratings fool you.

And to the commenter above me: really? You're REALLY saying rape is okay as long as it's once and the rapist considers not going dry into the poor guy? World of a difference that makes... Oh wait, it doesn't. The other person was still raped. And let me remind you, this is a manga, AKA a work of fiction, and the sheer fact that this mangaka thought it was pretty rational to have her characters be that stupid to be blackmailed by something like that is her genius at work. Manga ≠ real life and this mangaka tends to always go very far from realistic reactions. But the issue here is that of her making rape seem okay is what's wrong. You should never feel that way no matter if it's a work of fiction or real life events.

One of the most disappointing pieces not just for its content (yup, sorry rape apologists, but 'no means no' and even if a dozen volumes later the victim succumbs to his stockholm syndrome and thinks he's fallen for his rapist, HE WAS STILL RAPED) but for the fact that it's brought out so much disgusting responses in its defenders. Morinaga's up there with some of the worst characters in BL--because he's the type that's woobie and adorable and makes you want to cuddle him, lulling people into this false sense of security where you forget what a HORRIBLE friend he was, taking advantage of the person he loved when they were vulnerable and he KNEW they didn't want it--AND THEN EMOTIONALLY BLACKMAILING THE GUY INTO STAYING WITH HIM.

Legitimately one of the worst things to hit BL fandom in a long while. So fricking glad it's coming to an end.

While I find most Takanaga-senseis work quite dull this one was fun. It had story and characters had emotion and stuff (as I said I find her other works dull)
Even if it starts off as "rape" I find the story quite ok. And to defend the poor dude Morinaga was drunk and Souichi was indeed at fault too.
From that on it's typical Uke-in-denial story. It's not like he's raping him all the time, (if that was true then all uke-in-denial manga is rape). He didn't really have to sleep with him (the reason he did was a bit wtf though). And even if it took him friggin 7 volumes but it ended up well.

Comedy is quite good and art is great. Story is not really believable but it's ok with me, I liked it.

I really like this series, though I can appreciate it's not for everyone. A lot of people can't get past the premise, and would consider most (if not all) of the sex scenes in the manga rape. Since I don't think yaoi is supposed to be extremely realistic and serious, I didn't mind. In real life Morinaga and Tatsumi might be considered scary, unpleasant people, but this is fiction. If you want realistic, go read Sakura Gari. If you think a love story between a neurotic, abusive, homophobic closet case and an adorable serial rapist sounds like it could be interesting, this is the right manga for you.

As for the rest, the art is good to begin with, and it only gets better as it goes on. The pace is also good, it doesn't drag or get suddenly weird later on. The story sort of sucks you in and it doesn't feel repetitive despite the fact that character development is really slow. The ending did feel a little rushed to me, but satisfying nonetheless.

I wish there were more long, quality-consistent yaoi manga out there. This one gets an enthusiastic 10 from me.
