I decided to give this a try. Unfortunetly, I couldn't find anything about it. And when I did find something about it, it was about another manga with the same name. I thought it was a romance at first until the 2nd chapter. This is very Shounen action. It's pretty good too so far. 3 chapters, about to read the fourth.
Anyways, give this a try if you like Naruto, Gantz, and Hunter X Hunter, It can get gory though, Around HxH level, Not Gantz level, atleast not yet.
loved the manga. I have read this over and over again for the joy of it. It took me two tries to finish it, that's true, but it still has become one of my favorites. If you like the genres, there's no reason to avoid it. There is never enough gore, but this was good. It allows people who don't like gore to enjoy it too. SO, it made me really mad to hear that the planning of making this into an anime was canceled. In 2008 they announced it, and my feels when through the roof. Then they turn around and said No... T.T "According to the Monthly Shonen Magazine editors, production on the anime project was suspended last year due to the delisting of the Gonzo anime studio from the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Gonzo was co-producing the anime with another studio, AIC. The people involved did their best to revive the project after Gonzo's delisting, but to no avail." - ANN (Anime New Network)
that the ending has failed me. Not because it is not a typical shonen's happy ending where all problems are resolved and everybody's friend again, but rather because I'd hoped for mutual destruction. really, I think that way it would have created a huger impact. As the way it's done, it feels rather half-assed to me. Oh, well, on the other side, the author did a good job deceiving me (if I had guessed the ending right, that would mean the story's too predictable, don't you think?)
I personally loved this manga and was so amazed when I heard the story of its author( who died from cancer in a good way...). I didn't think there were so much people hating it so, now, I'm kind of reflecting on what I thought. I read some of the hate comments just to be sure and now I've made my mind. I won't back down that this could be considered a masterpiece. Though the first part is better than the second the story held itself good. Hirose should have had his character developed better than that, it's true. And, the ending had some confusing parts I think. But what I truly loved and which didn't bother me at all though it seems to have bothered some is that this manga, just as dramatic and crazy may the situation get, it kept itself as a bright kind of story. through good and bad times, never did the story become dark and too mysterious to be understood. That's the best way I coulp put it into words, period. and, about the art, it's top notch. especially starting vol 7 or so. It's a shame the author died, he could have brought an even better piece. May he rest in peace ~
One of favorite mangas ever, if not my most favorite manga ever.
I started reading this, mostly because I had free time and wanted to read something.I didn't have a thought that I might end up loving this.At the start it seemed a bit weird to me but as the story progressed the plot and characters became deeper and at one moment I noticed that I'm already loving this XD
This has great epic action scenes, a good balance of comedy and drama, cool characters, and an exciting story. The art is a bit messy in the first chapters but it improves with every new chapter. Also if you like manga with split personality or events where protagonists turn evil, you should check this manga out.
okay... i love this manga but i will stop reading this one because alive will be adapted into an anime series... i´ll finish reading this after I watched the anime... however alive is really catching i almost spend the whole day reading the manga.
Just one word the comment 4 this comic, "AWESOME", with a compliment stories and a nice art from Adachitoka and a really great stories from Kawashima Tadashi. Cia Yo..^^'
Other than Naruto and Bleach, I've never tried Shonen mangas much. This one actually was interesting and had me hooked. But that's mainly because of my interest in a lot of fights, blood, action etc. And the plot line is really good-- at least to me.
One another note I especially liked it because

there was a sufficient amount of angsty, one sided romance in the first arc, which I liked. Being a mainly shoujo reader, I gotta see some romance. And this series had it. I liked how crazy Hirose goes when Megu isn't with him/ thinking about Taisuke. I'm not sure if there are any couples that get together, but if there are I am hoping for Hirose and Megu! >.< Mainly because he seems to need her.
Hopefully it still keeps me engaged later in the series.
So i agree with the rest that the first arc was amazing. I really liked it, and the second arc was much weaker in comparison. Putting that aside it was still a very good story. The only real flaw I saw, which others stated, is the goals/desires of the characters...some were never explained and others changed. The one thing that bothered me the most was Hirose. I mean at first it made sense that he resented being helped all the time and never doing anything...and that he wished he could atract Megu, but in the end it seemed that he was truely just trying to kill Taisuke....I think that if Hirose was more clear of a character in the second arc, along with some of the emotions that were brought out from the first arc this story would be much better. But I still give it a 8 out of 10
