High school is difficult for most kids. But for Kayano, a shy girl whose single mother seems to work all the time, it's even worse than usual. She's so afraid of drawing attention to herself that she can't tell the handsome Kamijo how much she loves him until one day she finally gets up the courage to write him a letter confessing her feelings...

When she goes to give him the letter all her plans go awry. She's given the letter to the wrong person! Accidentally, she's given her love letter to Takeru Edogawa who just so happens to be the school principal's son, head of the delinquents and the notorious "Prince of Attraction"! To Kayano, he seems like Satan himself. Not only is he devilishly handsome, but he seems to take the utmost pleasure in making her suffer. Things only get more interesting when Kayano's mother comes home one day and announces she's getting married again --- To principal Edogawa! What will Kayano do when she has to live with this devil 24/7? How will she cope with her literal "Hell on Earth"?

This series has been adapted to Chinese live action drama under the name "Devil Beside you", starring Mike He, Rainie Yang and Kingone Wang.

Too pat and too vanilla.

The mangaka really could have gone a long way with this theme. She could have handled it deftly and with depth, but instead she glosses over the difficulties of a stepcestuous relationship. It's all a little too pat and a little too easy. The art is wonderful, as expected of Takanashi-sensei, but the plot and the characterization is dilute and uninteresting. It's too stereotypical to absorb a jaded manga reader.

Crimson Hero by the same mangaka is a much better work. Miles better. Aeons better. If you have to spend your time reading a Takanashi manga, read Crimson Hero instead of this immature romance!

I really liked Takeru. his problems are similar to ones I have (only more 'girlish' ;). however it was hard to understood the 'Italy problem' (the way he acted), but I feel half-empty without one of my parents myself, so in the end I think he did the best thing. he just did, what had to be done ("for them", like Kayano thought). without talking to much about it. this is what I liked about him the most.

this manga was the best. I mean it was not like Parfait Tic. I didnt get tired after voulme 6. The story was really good and the drawings were perfect. I wish it had more volumes ^^

right around when he was going to leave i thought that it was just dragging on way too long and there was just too much drama (but its a drama right?) but it was pretty good up until that point. and i really loved the ending. maybe i've just been reading a lot of depressing stuff lately, but it was wonderful to get the happy ending!!!

I've read other manga and what I've noticed, just reading the first chapter of this manga is the huge similarities that it has with other manga books.
Just in the first chapter i found parts that are really similar to the story of mars, marmalade boy and even hot gimmick with the idea of being a "servant"

I thought the beginning was really interesting, but after awhile it started to drag. It had a typical ending. I wish that the mangaka had left the main plot involving the two main characters for a bit and focused more on Takeru's friends. Even though they show them on the covers and stuff, they aren't really in the story. Anyway, if you like shoujo than you should definately read this. The artwork is nice, and the story is addictive. (and it's completely scanlated. smile )
