Anybody reads Vampire Game?
I'm looking for manga with male protagonist like Darres, who is in charge to protect female protagonist and must have some romance in their relationship. preferable if the female chara is in higher strature than the male.
I appreciate any suggestion given. thanks.

Try The Wild Ones. It's about a girl who get's adopted into her estranged grandfather's Yakuza family and gets assigned a young yakuza boy her age to protect her at school. I don't like it myself, but it fits your criteria perfectly.

Ayashi no Ceres is pretty good, it's exactly what you're asking for and even I, that hate shoujo, liked it. 
And it is completely scanlated. Yay!! for completed manga!!!

Maybe Angel Sanctuary or Anatolia Story or Kanata Kara (I only know the last two from friends' description, so I could be wrong).
Also Fushigi Yuugi, as someone already said it.

I've read Fushigi Yuugi and Towarare no Minoue, the manga is in my bookcase at home. it was such a good manga, i like it so much. I think i will give another title suggested here a shot. thanks a lot for the help!

Maybe Tokyo Crazy Paradise? The only thing is the male is in a higher position than the female. The female is the bodyguard. But it's a great manga anyway - gender bender and good for a shoujo.
Oh and how about Grand Sun The summary looks like what you're looking for.

I think the title in the list that fit your description the most is Ryo, but the other five series are pretty good and loosely about a protective male protagonist.

What's wrong with wanting to read a story where the male protagonist is protecting the girl? I personally think that it's nice to read a romantic story like that once in a while. Please don't leave a comment like that if you're not going to help the original poster. It's kind of rude.

it's okay kana. haha.
i'm a bit of feminist myself. but i always think the manga with protective male chara is kinda sweet and exciting to read (especially if the female chara is stoneheaded and naughty to hell, gives the male a lot of trouble )
well, i'm gonna try for the recommendation

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon . It's WAY better than the anime in the romance department  , but the art could not suit your taste ^^;
