Death of a loved one is a very sad occasion, but to me, the death of one own is a different matter.
At least you don't have to mourn anyone!

So my question to you is: What should be done with your body after your death?
There are many alternatives besides burial; like freezing, becoming compost, a mummy or even a tattoo.
You can even donate your body to science and might end up as a skeleton in an anatomy class (I remember reading somewhere you don't actually choose what'll be done with your corpse).
Maybe eaten by cats, or other equally as ferocious beasts?

So let's hear how you'd like to get rid of the remains...
..your remains, that is!

My thoughts:

Let me begin by saying that being non-religious and a non-believer, I see death as the final point.
My body will rot if buried, so I'd rather put it to some use.
If I die young and healthy, I'd definitely donate my organs. They can have it all.
I know some people feel apprehensive about donating parts like their eyes, but what use are you going to have for them once your brain is a mush? It can restore somebody else's sight and change their life!
If I'm unfit for donation, I don't mind having it donated to science, but I doubt mother will agree to that.

What should be done with the final remains though...
I'd like to be cremated and scattered somewhere, unless mother decides to keep me in an urn. ;p

It's not like I'll know either way, but making plans gives me comfort (and I like creeping people out).
I have also informed mother of my choice, and despite calling me a mental case for talking about weird stuff like that, she assured me she would go the extra mile and even do it at some country that allows cremation, unlike Israel where I currently live.

*Yes, I do believe mother will outlive me.

After death I would like my organs donated (if possible), but I wouldn't donate my body to science ...
I would like to be cremated, but I would want the person receiving my ashes to get a bigger amount then usual? Place some in an urn, and scatter the rest in various places. (haven't decided yet). Oh maybe I'll ask for a windy area so I can give that person one last hug ... yeah hug.

I think it would be nice to have someone talk to me (while I'm in an urn), or if I fell and someone inhaled me a bit. I got inside someone, I LIVE!!!! 🤣 Or just have someone get creep out because I somehow fell on them.

I originally wanted to be buried, but the cost, and upkeep and everything ... Plus no zom zom form for me.

Nightswan, you beat me to it! I was about to make this topic, but I hesitated because I thought it might be too morbid. Then I saw this under the new posts. I'm happy you made his topic.

Anyway, I would prefer to be buried. This is mostly for the sake of following the family tradition. I've gone back and forth over whether I want to donate my organs or not. Maybe a small part. Certainly not everything because I want to have a proper burial.

I've already signed off to have my organs donated. Myself being a recipient, I know if any organ of mine can save someone or help them I'd like for it to be done. And should I die and be ruled unfit for donations I'd like any of my remains to be used for science.

I told my mother I wanted to be frozen, but she won't follow up on my wishes. I told her to at least freeze my hands, which she agreed to. So if she outlives me I will be buried, if not cremated~

Donated organs, if they're still good. What use does a dead guy have for'em right?

Then... probably donate to and for SCIENCE! Not like I'll be able to care what they'll do to my body after I'm dead. 🤣

I've never really thought about it. It's hard enough choosing how live.

My thoughts are exactly the same as NightSwan's, if you can save someone's life, why not.

Cremated and then scattered.. the only problem is, that cremation is really badly seen in my country (considering the WWII & the religion), and scattering of ashes is strictly forbidden.Being burned and then scattered seems better than having a grave which would be forgotten, and re-used (they do it here, just bury new people on top) when family stops paying fees.

I'd love to be buried in the lawn and plant a tree over the tomb so... my body will give it nutrients, and the family will feel like im still there growing ... even as a tree tho.

Ten Uses For Your Body After You Die

I wouldn't mind being used to any of the purposes listed above; however, part of me really wants to help in any way I can while the other part just wants to have a normal burial or cremation. It's like that feeling where you want to remain yourself even after death (although for those of you who have read Unwind like I have, the way they phrase donating your bodily organs as "living on within someone else" is a thought to consider...).

Quote from Neal Shusterman, Unwind

I'd rather be partly great than entirely useless.

I'd like that Han Solo slab thing, with me showing the finger, obviously. Only if I'm still relatively young when I die though.

If I'm old and decrepit, I'd still want that slab, but with myself dressed like one of those knobs in the British parliament, wig and all.

I've filled out all the forms for organ/tissue donation. Other than that, I don't really care. I mean, dead is dead. But I guess I would rather not be buried though. The idea of slowly rotting away inside a coffin does not sound pleasant to me. And as much as I liked Shigeshoushi, I don't see the point of embalming. What's the point of being a pretty corpse? So cremation then, quick and clean. Unless burial is cheaper.

Organ & tissue donation, as much as possible - help the living.

Then either cremation & scattering of ashes, or burial WITHOUT any nasty chemicals, whichever my survivors prefer (and can afford...no idea what either would cost).

I wouldn't mind donating my internal organs, but I Do mind donating my external ones, I wouldn't want to look more gruesome than I already am(when I die)..

I don't care what they do to my corpse as long as it's already hidden from public eye before I even rot..

I'd be willing to donate organs and tissue, I am a donor, but in most cases, that doesn't happen. Donating organs typically only works if you die suddenly in an accident or something, since your organs have to be still alive and kicking when they remove them.

I don't really care if I'm buried or cremated, but I'm not sure I want my loved ones to have to keep my ashes. I mean what are they going to do with them? Would they have to worry about it breaking? Would they feel bad if they had to put me in a closet? What happens to me when they're gone? That just seems weird to me. Just bury the ashes or something.

I'm not sure I want to be embalmed either. There's no need for me to be in perfect condition 200 years from now.
