seriously, is it just me, or what?

every manwha i have read is amazing, ex: immortal regis, unbalance, aflame inferno, ect.

while every manga is either yaoi, a cliche shounen plot, a boring senien plot, with one in a blue moon being worth reading. (i didnt mention shoujo because not only are they for chicks, but they all seem so similar i wont even bother reading one of them)

anyone else feel the same way?

I have to agree that manwha is very different from manga. It all has this... otherworldly feel. Must be the ganglyness or something.

It's probably because manhwa is less 'well-known' than manga, so the scanlators tend to pick up the cream of the crop.....

Same reason many people thought Cowboy Bebop and Trigun were the only animes of their time.

There's good and bad stuff in both manga and manhwa. UnbalanceX2 is awesome, though. (haven't read the other two you mentioned)

I have to say I read up on Immortal Regis and Aflame Inferno recently and was very much impressed (haven't quite got to Unbalance yet but might eventually).

That said, I do not necessarily find it any better or worse than manga. If anything I prefer Manga just because I've read more of it, but I don't think whether a series is drawn and written in Japan or Korea has any major effect on its overall quality.

The thing with Manga is that there is just more of it, so of course there are going to be more series that suck, but there is also going to be more good stuff too. And as far as I can tell manwha has some lame and/or shoujo stuff as well.

Well, for me;
All the manhwa's I've read takes a basic concept/plot/cliche and turns it into something complex and develops it from there. The manhwaga twists things from something humorous to something tragic/heartwrenching and shows us the underlying issues beneath all the simplicity. The subjects gets a lot of attention and the plot devices used can either touch a bit of our hearts or just makes you go, ugh.

I don't think I've made any sense but that's my opinion from all the manhwa's I've read so far. (:

And their art seems more realistic and elegant than manga's.

All in all, manhwa's are a good read. Though sometimes I prefer manga.

I don't think it depends all upon mangas or manhwa. It's just depends on the manga-ka/author etc and how the story is set out and drawn out for viewers.

Well I'm not making much sense, but it all depends on the person behind the story. Different people give different stories/art.

Well, manwha tent to have their own cliché and I have to admit that I don't like all manwha, some I've quit reading. For example, i did like Zero: Circle of Flow but its prequel Zero, I couldn't get into and found it a much like every other manwha I read.

I agree with you, whatever it may be, manga or manhwa, there are bound to be some good ones and some bad ones. Besides, people tend to be biased when it involved their fav series. And for that matter, i simply had to recommend you guys to read Unbalance X Unbalance, it's an enjoyable read. I also second, third and fourth Immortal Regis and Aflame Inferno, both are great oh and don't forget to check out ID and if you're fans of seinen, then i suggest you read Island

Manga has been around way longer than manhwa, so of course there'll be more of them compared to manhwa and i also agree with some other poster comment that shoujo manhwa are also cliche. The one that i've read always involved bad boys that are not honest with their love interest and always like to bully them somewhat. And guess what? most of them are super hot or something which is no different than shoujo manga.

Anyway, i think Korean manhwa are beginning to impose themselves in the manga world, fans are beginning to recognized them and i hope more and more manhwa will be translated in the future i'm sure out there are series that rivaled those mainstream kings Naruto, Bleach and One Piece to name a few

hyery damn straight with immortal regis and everything im dal young writes is freaking amazing.. seriously like everything that he authors that i have read, is extremely entertaining.

and as for shoujo, i dont even bother reading it. anything with a target audience of prepubescent overlooked girls desperately looking for romance..... isnt worth my time

Just to add an odd little experience in here, I actually read a short book on Manwha (one of those 'how to draw' jobs), and in the into the writer had actually gone and outright attacked Manga fans. I seem to recall something along the lines of "Does your precious Manga have have this kind of heritage? No. Take that, Manga fans!", amongst almost two paragraphs of general bashing. I've seriously no idea how that got published, to be honest(quite unbelievable, really). The little rant at the start was so poorly researched, too :/

That was the first time I'd really heard of Manwha, and, if anything, that simply made me resent the whole idea of it. Needless to say I haven't heard or seen anything of said book since.

I personally prefer Manga in general, there's just *something* about it which I'm almost, well, 'drawn to'. Of course, it varies greatly depending on the individual story itself.

Not so much manwha is scanned, unlike manga, which gets practiculary every shoujo/yaoi scanned.
Manwha has its "shoujo" as well. And stuff like that. Which is less known, but can disapoint you as well. (If you'll read as much manhwa)
Also, there are many really good manga that are both scanned and are left.
You just need to look harder for those really good ones.

From my experience good Manwahs are very good and easily contend with the best manga... but the bad ones are terrible, very clichéd, terrible plots and pretty shitty art.
