New Poll - Colored Series Re-Release

This week's poll was suggested by Nekomikoto. If they started releasing a color version of a series that you previously read and liked, would you read it? Personally, I don't have time for that...

Time is precious. And you can't spend all of it in manga

New Poll - How Much Is Too Much?

This week's poll was suggested by MaxieMan. Did you ever feel that it was too daunting to start a long series? What length is just too much?

I have a confession to make. Back in middle school, my friends tried to get me to start reading One Piece. There were maybe 5 official English volumes released. That's only around 50 chapters. I didn't pick it up, as I thought it was too much. As of today, there's 960 chapters. Still haven't read it.

New Poll - Original vs Adaptation

This week's poll was suggested by Transdude1996. Pretty straightforward

Previous Poll Results:
Question: What is (or would be) your Hogwarts house?
Choices:
Gryffindor - votes: 467 (13.1%)
Hufflepuff - votes: 643 (18.1%)
Ravenclaw - votes: 1044 (29.4%)
Slytherin - votes: 701 (19.7%)
I don't understand this question - votes: 697 (19.6%)
There were 3552 total votes.
The poll ended: October 18th 2019

On the official quiz within Pottermore, I got placed within Slytherin because I prefer to gain knowledge for the sake of using it rather than for the sake of knowing more.

This week's poll was suggested by juliarox214. Yes, I know it's not manga-related.

Nah, still sucks - votes: 753 (26.9%)
I would never consider using legal methods of reading manga - votes: 255 (9.1%)

New Poll - Legal Digital Manga

This week's poll was suggested by JustaVagabond. Legal digital ways to read manga have increased in the last few years. Even some of the the Japanese publishers are endorsing it. And there's also the explosion of webcomics, especially those of the Chinese variety. Are you satisfied with all these changes? If not, what could be improved?

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Which of the follow best reflects how you would like scanlators to treat off-bubble SFX?
Choices:
SFX are a distraction, even as notes. SFX notes clutter the margins and panels and are a drag on the typesetter and even more on the redrawer. Scanlators should ignore them altogether. - votes: 109 (4.7%)
SFX are essential for scanlation to be true to the original. They should be typeset and redrawn all the time, regardless of how it might affect release pace. - votes: 103 (4.4%)
SFX significantly increase enjoyment of reading. They should be typeset and redrawn in all cases, so long as that doesn't compromise a regular, frequent release pace. - votes: 283 (12.1%)
Some SFX are needed to understand the context of a scene. These should be typeset and redrawn. Everything else can be ignored or left as notes. - votes: 585 (25%)
SFX are part of the art and as such should be left in place, their translation being typeset in small size next to them or on the margins as notes. - votes: 1264 (53.9%)
There were 2344 total votes.
The poll ended: October 5th 2019

Looks like the majority prefer to leave the original SFX alone and just put a small translation to the side.

New Poll - SFX and Scanlators

This week's poll is very specific and was suggested by Dreverhaven from Death Toll. The question deals with SFX (sound effects) that are not inside bubbles in manga. A quick Google search gives me these examples:
Only translated
Completely redrawn

The question deals with what would you prefer scanlators do about SFX with some small relation to the speed of releases, as it does take time and effort to completely redraw the SFX.

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Which do you consider yourself to be?
Choices:
In the middle - votes: 2484 (46.7%)
Optimist - votes: 956 (18%)
Pessimist - votes: 1881 (35.4%)
There were 5321 total votes.
The poll ended: September 27th 2019

I'm curious what the results would have been in the past, even say 3-4 years ago

New Poll - Optimist vs Pessimist

This week's poll was sparked by something the user marchRy suggested, but I didn't like the question he posed, so I came up with something myself.

Previous Poll Results:
Question: How do you feel about racist content in manga?
Choices:
I feel indifferent - votes: 1165 (29.1%)
It's kind of funny/interesting, because Japan seems to come up with very unique stereotypes - votes: 653 (16.3%)
It's a little shocking, but I understand that Japanese racial humor tends to be different from the rest of the world - votes: 748 (18.7%)
It's as offensive as racist content found anywhere else - votes: 1440 (35.9%)
There were 4006 total votes.
The poll ended: September 14th 2019

New Poll - Racism in Manga

This week's poll was suggested by 8-3. I'll just copy/paste what he stated

Some manga do get banned/censored/altered in certain countries due to racist imagery. What's seen as light-hearted humor in Japan could be regarded as offensive in other countries. For instance, the Viz Media version of Dragon Ball actually removed Mr. Popo's lips, due to the resemblance to "Blackface."

And compared to other countries, namely western ones, racial stereotypes actually are vastly different in Japan. Two very common stereotypes that I see in manga are that Chinese people supposedly end their sentences with "-aru," and that every black man is named "Bob."

Previous Poll Results:
Question: What is the best implementation of beast ears (kemonomimi) in manga without counting the hair?
Choices:
Beast ears on top and no human ears - votes: 1861 (66.4%)
Beast ears on side and no human ears - votes: 593 (21.2%)
Beast ears on top and human ears on the side - votes: 349 (12.5%)
There were 2803 total votes.
The poll ended: September 7th 2019

I'm very confused about having beast ears and human ears... So they just have 4 ears? Why?...

New Poll - Beast Ears

This week's unusual poll was proposed by VawX. He supplied this example image:
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/2e/ad/92/2ead92e65a906c07b1eb2a90abf61584.png
It's pretty weird... Not expecting this to be a popular poll.

Previous Poll Results:
Question: When should amnesia be used as a plot line or characterization?
Choices:
As the finale - votes: 84 (2.8%)
Toward the end - votes: 53 (1.8%)
Sometime in the middle - votes: 307 (10.2%)
At the very beginning - votes: 1530 (50.7%)
Right when the confession or key love moment happens - votes: 97 (3.2%)
Never - votes: 944 (31.3%)
There were 3015 total votes.
The poll ended: August 31st 2019

The most popular choice is to have amnesia be the inciting incident at the very beginning of a series. So the reader will discover how the world works at the same time as the main character.
