-> ...actually understand the humor. Otherwise, it'd be more helpful to say that you don't quite understand the basis of the manga or what its going for.
Particularly I'm referring to Aenonar's comment. I took the time to post this in order to correct his fallacies.
Effectively, the reason it bounces all over the place is because -clearly- Shina Dark doesn't always take itself seriously. In fact, I'd say its about a 75/25 ratio of farce to seriousness. It suits the manga quite well actually. The entire premise is pretty absurd, but enjoyable at the same time because it allows for a curious setting. In any case, the storyline is lacking at this point, and its worth waiting to see where it goes before rating it. It can't keep up the parodies of various other literature for too long since it has hinted at a greater plot, or at least connecting arcs. Only time will tell how that will shine.
For now, its fan service, a great male lead (for once), and a bustling island full of disowned women (and the occasional man.)

Stated off with an interesting theme, but after a few chapters it seems like that was just scrapped. All the sudden people start to trade with the devil, and people actually want to move there? What's up with that? Despite being all nice and such, why would they voluntarily want to come near the oh so horrible devil that should destroy the world? Makes no sense really... And then it suddenly turns into an mmorpg game inside the manga complete with hp and levels and whatnot's. Just.. what the? It's just totally messed up. The story isn't even connecting. It's jumping all over the place.
Fresh and interesting but not mindblowing

Shina Dark is quite an ambiguous series. It's somewhat in between light and serious, between harem and action, between medieval and modern, etc. While I think some of the stuff is just too far fetched, and the characters don't exactly react realistically, it still makes for a fresh read. It's easily addictive, but it's not as if I am dying for the next release either.
is the devil really the main character

it seems that the devil doesnt really matter in the story. This is more a manga about relationships/slice of life than a harem, which is what most people have been calling it as. It seems more political and the main characters just so happen to be alot of women.
edit: this was only until chapter 11

Note: Could people stop bringing religion into their reviews? The choice of the character isn't going to make a big differences in your entertainment. I don't see why you would rate a series lower because of the simple reason it is someone of not your liking religion-wise/personally.
Review: I personally like this series quite a lot. This series' setting and personalities really interests me and are different from those. The plot still continues to interest me from the two Moon Princess to Satan's powers. The series is also quite funny. The art work is amazing and very well done also in my opinion.
I rate a 8.5 for now.

I just read the third volume, and it was really nice.
I don't understand why you say it's boring, okay it's not a 100% action manga, but it is very interesting.
I love the graphic style, the story is going on well in this third volume and I can't wait for the following chapters ^^.

this series is kinda boring for a harem. first there is like no story besides the premise of the story. not a lot of fan-service and no romance and no comedy and no violence or gore. wat kind of harem is this?

I really don't understand why this series is quite so highly rated. Yeha, it was okay, but it's really nothing special. It's a pretty typical harem manga with typical level of drama, typical level of character development, and typical humor. Compared to all the other harem stories out there, nothing makes this one stand out. It's more funny than Girl's Bravo was but less funny than Girls Saurus.
It's definitely more innocent than most harem mangas, so probably more female accessible, but otherwise I would not particularly recommend this story over any other harem.

IMO, this is one of the few rare gems of manga anyone could find. The story is very good (as of ch. 9) along side the great art work. One thing though, the jokes are... i don't know, its good, its funny but somehow a bit out of place. Anyway, i'll bet this manga gonna be a great epic.

It's a harem alright, but I like the protagonist who actually seems to have a vertabrae, thats a nine already in my book I'm gonna see where this goes before I make it a 10, so far so good though.
