What depth??

I feel like I'm reading a different manhwa than everyone because this has the depth of a kiddy pool. It's like an episode of NCIS that's being dragged out for hours with a pointless sex scene every two minutes.
This is legit nothing more than torture porn.

A story about psychological trauma festering.

Rating: 10.0 / 10.0
The story is about two guys who were both emotionally scarred, physically abused, & sexually assaulted by blood relatives in their youth who end up together under one roof & try to form a shaky relationship while coming to terms with their own madness. To a lesser degree, it's also about the downward spiral of a rogue officer who starts off with pure intentions that corrupt.

The first half of the story focuses on the uke; Yun Bum, a guy who grew up with his abusive uncle after being orphaned, & who has a crush on a guy who saved him from being sexually assaulted in the army. Too bad that guy was a serial killer who's mom he happened to look like. It also focuses on detective Seungbae's determination to catch a serial killer by any means.

The second half focuses on Sang-Wu, who grew up with parents that became increasingly hostile towards eachother & then dragging him down with them. He tries to have a happy normal relationship with his new clingy boyfriend despite not being gay, but can't get over how Bum resembles his mothet & all the horrible things she did to him, giving him intense trust issues. It also focuses on Seungbae's downward spiral into madness.

The bodies of our boys are rather repulsive to look at, making the yaoi scenes uncomfortable to look at, I believe this was 100% intentional.

All 3 protagonists are victims, they all kill & they all stalk, & they will all likely end up in jail or dead by the end of the series.

Since this is a full-color series with a weekly deadline & surprisingly large page count per chapter with a thrilling horror story & character development, I'm willing to overlook the fact that the art is 95% traced-over photographs.

This is one of the best dark manhwa/mangas i have read in a long time. and it never once had to resort to pure violence or gore to keep up its dark side, it is doing an AMAZING job at showing just how powerful phycological torment can be. its written so well that i genuinly have no idea what sungwoo is going to do next

At first I read it without feeling bad for the characters, but that was since I was prepared for it to be fucked up...
But just like what happened to me when reading Yatamomo, I started feeling more for the character, and had such a strong heartache....
This is so terrible....they all need help...aaaaaAAAAH

It was expected that one of the main characters would be mentally disturbed... but both?! Koogi has a gift. I went into this saying "These two are sick I don't think I can read the next chapter" to "OMG I can't wait till the next chapter". It's suspenseful, you never know what's going to happen next or what hidden past the characters have. And it makes you question everything in life. At the start of the webtoon I hated both the main characters but now... my ship has sailed and I am living for them. I can't wait till season 2!! biggrin

My god, this is some deep, psychological stuff. I am on edge, I am shook. I need for that police officer to keep listening to his instincts please because someone really needs to help Bum. It’s pretty good, the art is done so well. There was a point where it skipped forward in the story, though, that was a bit confusing because there was no aftermath but maybe the author had to do that for a reason, move ahead for themselves, etc. The struggle between Bums need for escape and his fear is portrayed fairly well, especially where it is now in the story. The conflict he’s experiencing is welling up and I hope the author knows what they’re doing with this story because that sort of conflicting mental state will burst eventually and seeing what Bum will do will be interesting. Most people usually shut down to give in to Stockholm Syndrome, etc, as it is easier for their mental states to handle but that doesn’t exactly advance a story to an interesting place and I think the author knows that. Hoping for the officer to do more digging and hoping for Bum to gain more strength. I’m cheering you on Bum!

Gosh. I don't even know. I was never weak to gory or psychological stuff, but this has got me bad!
Visually, the first thing you see in chapter one is good art (i.e. normal proportions, detailed clothing), nothing too AMAZING for a webtoon nowadays. But it's dark. Literally. Nothing saturated and orange-y like Cheese in the Trap. Everything is pale and gray. Again, nothing too strange for a webtoon, since a lot of them (besides romance) tend toward more wash-y colors.

Nothing is strange until...BAM! You get hit with this Levi-haircut, sleep deprived dude who looks suspicious AF. (Funny story, I was avoiding this for a while because I thought the cover was for a Levi X Erwin AOT dj.) NOW it's unique. It's not afraid to make its main character look like a loser who has been living in the sewers (which are somewhat clean) and feeding off tiny rat-skewers. He looks scrawny; his clothes are sloppy; and he looks haunted.

And it's not only that the MC is a loser, it's the fact that the artist had the confidence to hit us with a creepy and loser-ish MC that lures us in. What about this story will be addicting? Obviously not the beautiful characters. The artist has an ace up their sleeve, and we want to know what can make such a grotesque MC likeable.

Now to the actual writing. I swear. This is what got me. Same-old "I have an unrequited love, but a certain condition makes me unable to confront the person I like" hook with the narration. First twist: they stalk their love interest on the internet (like we have all done once). Second twist: the speaker is a man who likes another man. Okay, we went in knowing there was going to be some *ahem* stalking going on, and we'd know it was a BL if we read the tags.

But wait, the second twist hits us late, because the panels show a GIRL instead of our MC (to trick us, I suppose), but this seems almost too heavy-handed. It is, but it somehow works. We are forced to ask ourselves this, "if it's not that creepy when a girl stalks her crush on social media, why is it creepy when a guy does it?" Double standards. So, now it's not creepy when a guy stalks his crush on the computer. And then we're hit AGAIN. We learn that our MC stalks his crush in real life. Okay. This is creepy no matter who does it. I believe that this sort of thing is what gives Killing Stalking the whole "roller coaster" feel. The author misleads us a bit too obviously; they give us what we knew they were hiding; and then they hit us with another surprise that leads us to question our assumptions.

This is my cup of tea. I love yaoi and I love horror. So what happens when you put it together? Something beautifully disturbing. I love this. I never thought I'd see a yaoi and horror mix where the author doesn't drop the horror and make it improbably romantic. It feels like a roller coaster. It reminds me a bit of Moritat, where I really connect to one of the characters and my mood reflects theirs( In Moritat's case I'm one of the rare ones that connects to Law and is legit scared of Jesse). I've connected to the more vulnerable one here and some times I literally hold my breath. How often does a story make you do that? Isn't that awesome? It's fascinating! It's disturbing! Read it!

@liontaraki I'm 99% sure those people were just trolling. Poe's law and all. Kinda like "You want something cute like YOI? Try this story called KILLING STALKING. It's fluffy I swear.
