Description
Shu Yun, shining star that was born in the ballet world and gifted opera Huadan Tong Yang are connected by a twist of fate. "I'm certain you're the light I want to pursue." One is the family's pride, the other a muddy white jade; looked down upon because of his low social standing when he's actually a hidden gem. Completely different paths but when the East and the West meet...when Beijing opera and ballet meet; two lives will be changed forever.

Who the heck gave this a 1/10? 😕 Did you really read this or was this a mistaken rating?
Anyways, I hesitated to give this a try because I'm not that knowledgeable or interested in ballet or chinese opera (at least, not enough to want to read something that could potentially give a lot of technical information about either, like you'll see in sports/fighting mangas or other niche topic mangas), but this turned out to not really go into the technicalities of the arts and focuses more on the relationships between the characters, with the arts acting as the backdrop for the story.
The story is about 2 prodigies in their respective fields meeting because they attend the same fine arts college and because the ballet dancer, who was having trouble finding passion in his art, became captivated by the Beijing opera player, who stubbornly gets by on passion for his art. The opera guy isn't actually looked down upon, like the summary says, but does have a much harder time getting by because he doesn't have a lot of support (independently financed, no legacy background, father disapproves). Meanwhile, the ballet guy is very sheltered but burdened by a lot of expectations, coming from a family well-known in the ballet world and possessing a lot of natural talent but having a very passive personality--he wants to change that though.
All the characters are really great and the series does an excellent job in exploring the different types of relationships going on in this setting. The story flows very well and the relationships and character developments seems very natural, especially considering this is a manhua (which tend to be more misses with story flow and character development than hits). But as this is a manhua, I kind of expect that things are just starting after 37 chapters and MUCH more drama is yet to come.
