Tried reading it but just didn't like it. Felt very "newbie", like someones first work. The jokes fell flat for me, and the story wasn't all there.

Also, I'm never one to complain about the art.. but a lot of characters were unintentionally drawn very fat-looking, or very broad, which I didn't like at all

I read it just because its artist is THE Inoue Takehiko, one of my favourite mangaka ever, but it actually surpassed my expectations. It has an episodic format which I think fits the series very well, in which Chameleon Jail deals with a specific case and has to use his body-altering ability to solve it, and then he moves on to another job once everything is hunky-dory again.

Chameleon Jail himself is an interesting character, a laid-back and cool guy with some measure of proper decency, and he keeps you following his adventures. And it's definitely an awesome name. smile His female boss/manager/whatever she is adds something to the series too, and they're basically the only two recurring characters.

Plus, in true Takehiko form, it's pretty much hilarious. The body-change scenario leaves plenty of room for hijinks, and this story doesn't disappoint. I don't want to spoil it, but you'll see him deal with a bad guy in a rather unique way...

Anyway, it's not exactly a masterpiece, but it's certainly funny, entertaining, and original, and that's a lot for a manga. It's also fairly lighthearted, so don't be afraid of any deep sci-fi-ey stuff or too much violence.
