A heart-warming tale of friendship, love and strength, Tsunbaka attempts to create a new archetype in the "tsun" genre of girls. Combining the fierceness of a "tsundere" and the air-headed/forgetfulness of a stupid "baka" girl, comes the titular type and character Tsunbaka. This manga focuses on her daily life and her best friend Boon, who helps and protects Tsunbaka, as well as the greatest supporting character Dokuo.

This originated as a 2chan thread and was later adapted by YOKO, similar to how Onani Master Kurosawa and Molester Man were created.

Action-heavy to the detriment of its romance and drama

I was probably outside of the target group for this story, so take my criticisms as coming from someone who wasn't likely to enjoy this story from the get go.

This was rather silly when it didn't really need to be. In fact, the female leads condition could have opened up a path to heavier drama involving her compensations for her problems, the adaptations or lack thereof by even good meaning people around her, and also some more good characters in the antagonist position. As it is, the giant fight scenes felt more like filler than actually useful content for developing the leads and emotionally investing the reader.

Nice, but a bit tedious.

Pretty interesting, and with rather nice plot, although very silly, to the point of trying too hard.
I liked it for the most part, but it could really do without that whole cyborg side-plot... It did get a couple of laughs, but it was way too lenghty.

This manga is... surprising, to say the least.

I started this expecting something silly and stupid, and I did get something silly and stupid, but it was also surprisingly heartwarming and entertaining. In fact, this is the most refreshing depiction of an airhead I have seen yet. Her idiocy might be, more often than not, played for laughs, but the reason behind it is treated fairly seriously and is explained in a way that is (astoundingly) believable.

Of course, if you're looking for a serious work, this manga is not for you. It's a silly comedy, albeit a unique one, and it does tend to try too hard with some of its jokes. But, as mentioned, when it tries, it can be surprisingly heartwarming. Just, well, don't take it too seriously anytime else.

For those who have read 2chan threads before, well, this manga is exactly like one of those threads, obviously, since it was adapted from one. So, if you have enjoyed reading those crazy threads that start out silly and then turn out to be shockingly deep in the end, you should enjoy this manga too.

Oh, and the character designs are very adorable. I especially like Dokuo's face. It's fantastic.

Ever since I read OMK, I waited eagerly for Yoko's new work(s).. read this one just now and to tell you the truth I'm disappointed.
It's nowhere near OMK - the drawings are great, sure, but the story is shallow and it tries too hard to be funny.
If Yoko hadn't been the artist for this one, it has zero chance to make me read this crap of a story.

still waiting for Yoko's new work though..
10 for drawings
0 for story

well, some people read it because it's the same artist that draw Onani Master Kurosawa (only the artist, not the author), but it doesn't resemble Kurosawa at all (except the artwork ofc) mmm...
the thing is, in term of story this manga really is pretty unique, refreshing, cool (at some parts) and eventually touching mmm...
YOKO sure can makes great story even greater with his drawing mmm...

A very very odd story, and even that barely covers it. Despite the non-stop absurdity, it still manages to be a half decent story. Just stick it out till the end before making a judgement call on it.

If you come reading this expecting it to be similar to Onani Master Kurosawa you're going to be disappointed, this is far from it. This is, however, a cute little love comedy with some other elements mixed in.

I have to say, for a oneshot, it was really good. There were happy moments, sad moments, funny moments, and just plain incomprehensible moments. Truly a memorable single book series. I thoroughly enjoyed the character's personalities. It's definitely worth the read.
