It started out really nice, my rating was 10 back then. It was cute and funny, with the heart pendant mystery and stuff. But somehow, idk why as the chapters go on.. the girls just keep on increasing. I don't really have anything against Harem but somehow it's starting to get annoying. It's like, there's no progress in the Romance at all. Sure, Chitoge's feelings have progress but, Raku's feelings just keep on getting mixed up with the other girls.

Somehow, I'm starting to want to drop this.

Super slow paced romance. All those misunderstandings, nothing that has never been done before.

Girl and boy hate each other, but, by the end of the chapter, something happens that brings them close. The protagonist then proceed to think she is actually a good girl, but she gets mad because of something, punches him and he then realises she is not good at all and the chapter ends the same way it begun.

Still, the tsundere here is better than in other manga, not perfect, tough.

Once all FOUR love interests show up, story progress slows down completely into an almost episodic state. Skip a couple chapters and you won't miss anything important.

The mafia aspect that made this series somewhat unique is pretty much ignored most of the time. What's left is the classic cliche androcentric harem filled with innocent indecisive kids just to waste our time. I recommend something with better focus and progression like Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo.

Certainly not perfect, but it's an entertaining short story, if you're looking for an innocent romance. Art isn't great, but it's consistent. If you're not at least smiling by the end, you have no sense of humor.

The plot caught my attention, but the story became weak after they introduced so many characters. I didn't expect it to be harem :'( I admit that it's still quite enjoyable to read and I hope it gets better with time.

Down-hill

In all honesty, the plot for this manga is going nowhere at this point. The author is just elongating the manga with the over-sized harem. I'm not a big fan of harems, in truth, and I think I can handle some harem plots, but I cannot go through with this story anymore. Chapters ago, I praised this story with a much higher rating. Now all I can give it is a four.

I couldn't even bring myself to finish chapter 80, because it was bland. The story is riddled with gags, confusion, and promises that nobody even remembers. Which is another thing I wish the mangaka would focus on. I want to see developement, not a bunch of girls and one guy flopping around in their own pool of embarrassment and anger.

I know this story will come to an end, and Raku will either fall in love with a girl (most likely Chitose or Onodera, rooting for Chitose) or the story will just end with Raku still not with a girl and they're all chasing after him.

But I don't know when that end will be. I mean, I think Chitose is a great character, and the whole yakuza enemy situation is an interesting concept. But the mangaka doesn't indulge in it, the only thing he/she pulls out is the whole protective/crazy bodyguard. Overused, it's something you'll see multiple times whenever the author decides to give Raku and Chitose time together.

I don't particularly like or dislike Onodera. But then, Tsugumi, Tachibana, and Onodera's sister come along.

Worst peeve in the story: Tsugumi. God-awful character, I dislike everything about her. She makes the manga not worth reading. I was hoping she was going to stay as gag relief, but no, the mangaka would never have that, because there just wasn't enough girls.

I praise the art though, wicked action scenes and character designs.

I'll let this manga sit for a while, then come back to it to make my final judgement. But whoever is into crazy, crazy harems, read this story. I'm quite positive (90%), that many of you readers will side with either Chitose or Onodera, because they're really the only relevant characters to any story developement. The first half was pretty good, but I don't know how you'll feel once you get further. Good luck and I hope you enjoy.

One-shot 9.5, Series 6.5

I remember when the one-shot came out by CXC Scans. One-shots don't have much time for development of anything (obviously) so the ending felt a little rushed but as far as one-shots go, it had a pretty great twist on the romance. I was really hoping it'd get a series.
Then the series started 10 months later. [spoilers about personalities and identities (not the main mystery) of love-interests] There was a new love-interest, Onodera. In fact, Raku was already in love her and she with him. She seemed a bit too in personality/background cliche but I was fine with it. I guess it was necessary to make it 'worthy' of a series in jump's eyes (considering little-kiddies-who-haven't-been-exposed-to-much-fiction-in-general demographic). And it was a nice twist that she was also there in their childhood and might actually be the one he made the promise with (fat chance of that happening, considering the style of the series).
But Chitoge was now just a tsundere stock character for a LONG time. And Raku and Chitoge weren't prodigious rivals, Raku was average in everything (except cooking) so there was no tension that didn't feel at least a little forced. Still, though. The series was ok.
Then another love-interest comes in, the bodyguard. Complete stock character. Almost everything she says/does makes me annoyed because it's just so predictable and fake. The series was pretty much going full harem instead of rival gangs' false lovers and a love triangle.
When it begins to lose steam, another character is added (everyone knows this is a quick fix). Her character is kinda interesting at first, though it's not explained enough how a yakuza boss is bffs with the police commisioner or whatever. I thought the fact that she was consciously and perpetually molding herself to be an ideal woman for Raku since she was a child quite original. But eventually she starts falling back into the cliche of a kinda...clingy love-interest.

This series has a few great chapters (like where Raku goes to Onodera's house) but they are very few and irregular after the first few chapters. I've dropped this series a few times and only come back out of boredom or to escape from exams/homework 😛

I'll keep the one-shots rating here.
Definitely read the one-shot if you don't mind one-shots. As for the series, there are a lot better things out there. But this is one of the few Jump romances around so if you just like reading those, go for it.

This is really fun read, every chapter has decent amount of Comedy and Romance Elements mixed

all girls have their own personality and are very likable, Naoshi fans should give this a chance instead of comparing it to it's One shot OR Double arts for that matter, coz Nisekoi in itself is a good stand alone series and should be treated as such

10/10 for enjoyment factor alone

Light romance Read

It is what it is. It's not a master piece of romance, but it delivers what it promisses. A light romance read for a younger audience. It is funny, it is romantic, it's fun. Just dont expect it to be what it is not.

I see people talking about double arts, I went and read it. Honestly, I rather read this than double arts, it was nearly as good as people make it to be. dodging axes to the head

The one issue. The outcome is too obvious. It doesnt create the doubt that "Ichigo 100%" did, never letting you know who's gonna be the girl. This one fails horribly at that. But then again, Ichigo 100% was the same at first, then the author overhauled the whole thing pushing the female protagonist aside and leveling everything up, even changing the girl she planned to have with the protagonist at the end through the course of the manga. So, if this one could do the same, it would be way more interesting.

About cliches and all. What romance is not cliched today? Ichigo 100% is FULL os clichés, still, that doesnt define the manga, there was more going on to it. So the fact that this one also has a bunch of clichés isnt all bad.

Concluding. It is what it is, dont expect more than it wants to deliver, and there is still room to improve and content to explore, just like Ichigo 100. So it is worth a read if you enjoy young romances.

Like many people I really liked the OneShot. It really emphasized the Yakuza/Gangster aspects of the romance. Thats not to say that I dont like the actual series. I do, just not as much. They really toned down the underworld aspect and turning it into a love triangle, then a love quartet. Still, all in all, a pretty good read.
