Description

After waking up in the body of Giselle Rozevin, possibly the worst character from the novel, “The Poisoned Apple,” our protagonist has one goal: escape the original Giselle’s miserable fate of being poisoned to death by assassins while trapped in a prison cell. Thankfully and strangely, she finds out that poison is ineffective on her and that she can distinguish them by taste. Thus, having fallen out of favor with the good guys, Giselle uses her new unique skill to appeal to the villains. However, is joining hands with the villains really the right choice?

ML really said, "I like them dumb."

FL is unpleasantly pathetic. Thankfully, other characters including ML noticed and actually comment on this rather negatively.

In fact, ML seens to be a classic bully-type. He does things solely to watch FL be distressed...at first. He specifically tailored situations to make FL panic and lose what little brain cells she has. He's keeping her alive because she's interesting and entertaining.

This makes the FL tolerable. I despise when a whiny airhead is never acknowledged as such in the story or if they're painted as "cute" or "relatable".

There's nothing cute about how FL is scrambling for her life here. So far, as of ch 04, all FL has done is flail around uselessly as a "curse shop" attendant. She hasn't tried to figure out anything about her own abilities other than knowing poison doesn't affect her. All of her escape attempts have failed. She's getting dangerously close to being boring now.

EDIT: wow, 25 chapters in and FL still hasn't figured anything out. She's in a different location now (due to nothing on her part except walking into an obvious trap) and still isn't curious enough to do anything but vaguely brainstorm about even more vague actions she shoulda, woulda could've...maaaaybe take. None of her actions are moving the plot forward. NONE.

ML is the only one actively getting shit done. He's the ONLY reason we're finding out what happened to the original villainess...because FL isn't even mildly curious.

FL is actually kind of impressive with how smooth brained she is. She's the personification of the meme: no thoughts, head empty.

I try to take a unique approach with my reviews, attempting to write from the perspective of a 'normie' and targetting newcomers to the genre. My reviews may therefore highlight parts that fans do not care about, or appear very critical of common genre tropes and stereotypes.

This is a fairly charming Otome Isekai with a quite unique premise, with a somewhat a formulaic execution.

The premise of a protagonist who is immune to all poisons is unusual, and it is not an idea I have seen explored before. Sadly the story as of chapter 25 has not explored that ability very much.
It instead used her ability as a plot device to set her up with the romantic interest and side characters of the plot.

It does this however quite well, and after a somewhat clumsy introduction, the story is likely to satisfy fans of the genre.

Characters and story:
The protagonist is an 'airhead', but learns from her mistakes. Rarely causing frustration for the reader more than once.
The villains which the protagonist joins hands with surprised me. They act like 'moustache twirling' villains living in the "city of villains", and have (as of yet) no righteous cause, or justification for their evilness. They are just evil because they are villains.
The story seem to be hinting that there is more depth to the lore of this setting than "Good vs Evil", but until then; the reader may find this cartoonish way of acting off-putting.

Art:
The art is fairly good and serves the story adequately. The protagonist's expressions are particularly well expressed through the art, and I have not yet noticed shortcomings in the art that take away from the enjoyment of the story.
