To explain myself a little, I'm looking for a story in which a relationship develops for a significant reason after the characters interact with one another. In other words, the characters impact each other in a meaningful way, and they have a special understanding of each other which they communicate straightforwardly.

This doesn't mean the characters can't be popular or have good looks, but superficial characteristics such as looks, wealth, status, achievements, etc should play no part in them getting together.

As a general example: Sarashi Asobi The male lead relies on the female for emotional healing/support, and in return he helps show her kind side to others to make friends. They both are straightforward about their relationship and don't fuss over their romantic feelings, and it is obvious from their interactions that they have a special bond.

**Please check my lists. I'd prefer suggestions that I HAVEN'T READ ALREADY.
Heterosexual romance only and pls no god-awful art, thanks. **

your lists look pretty shoujo'ish but give Bonnouji a try.
apart from that, try to look at my lists as I read most of your titles already, I think you'll be able to find something there.

If you can enjoy male oriented demography too, Spice and Wolf (but the romance is really slow here) and Toradora! are the first two titles that comes to my mind.

Akagami no Shirayukihime? No angst or undue worrying about their relationship, just a romance between two people with a special bond and understanding of each other, and you can see them fall in love through those sort of meaningful events. Very straightforward couple, too.

Last Game It's a major aspect of the story that the female lead doesn't like the MC for his looks & money (like everyone else)
Can't See Can't Hear But Love MC is blind, the girl is mute and deaf. Very dramatic but also very good.
3 Level Combination humanXrobot
Tokage Ouji fairy tale
Naisho no Princess childhood friends -- unfortunately it seems that the last volume has been scanlated but can't be found anywhere on the net. But maybe you have more luck than me.
Horimiya

In general try to check out the tags "Friends become Lovers" or "Childhood Friend/s". For some reason there's no "Childhood Friends become Lovers" tag but oh well.

I'm not sure how good these suggestions are because there is an element in each that suggests that they are drawn to each other because of attraction but there is more to it than that.
Tomodachi no Hanashi
My Hero! although it does't look like the scanlations will be finished any time soon, it's still lovely.

They're also rather short - not much slow build up but if you want that then Hotaru no Hikari would be good. Definitely slow build up there!

Thanks~! The ratings on your list were helpful.

Thanks but usually when it comes to friends/childhood friends becoming lovers there's no real "reason" to it other then they get along and spend a lot of time with each other and I'm looking for something a bit more meaningful/believable.

There's Shinigamihime no Saikon. A lot of people seem to like the heroines attitude on everything that goes on. She's not the type to freak out and dramatize everything but yet still an air head on some situations. Some people also think that the characters are too slow in falling in love.

How about Cat Street, Lovely Complex, and Kare Kano? Those are some of my favorite mangas. 🙂

Cynical Kanoko maybe since the the main characters aren't childhood friends and they both dislike each other after their first interaction, but the Main Male Leads starts falling for the Main Female Lead after more interactions?

Seconding Cat Street and Lovely Complex. Awesome manga. Bonnouji is good too. If you like manhwa, I'd suggest Can't See Can't Hear But Love.

Edit: Oh, look, I'm seconding Can't See too. XD Didn't notice that. Art is something important to me, too. How about
Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume
Otoyomegatari
Beast Master
Boku wa Ookami (one of my favorite art styles, just so beautiful, though the female lead was a bit annoying)
Immortal Rain
Hana to Akuma
perhaps Keppeki Shounen Kanzen Soubi
Taiyou no Uta if you're okay with tragedy 😛
Faster than a Kiss
Matsuri Special
Nineteen, Twenty-One
Oz no Kakashi Tsukai
Samurai High School
Torikagosou no Kyou mo Nemutai Juunintachi (a little mature, but if you're okay with that, then by all means go for it)

Hopefully I've found something original to recommend for you. XD

itazura na kiss-More evident in the Taiwanese live action, and also a really well known story
The beginning of the story starts out like normal shoujo but slowly move on to their married life and how they support each other strengths and weakness
