Forced to be with another

I'm looking for mangas where say the girl loves someone but is forced to be with another. Personally I would prefer historical or fantasy but I'm open minded! I want it to be heart wrenching but have some hope to it. These kind of story lines are ones I just really get into. The main character can either have mutual love with the person or not, either is fine!

Inoribana second story, "Souai Metaphysica". It's in a pseudo-historical setting.
Katakoi Triangle Not the main story, but a side oneshot, "Secret Garden". It's also in a vaguely historical setting.
Choukakou, it's not really a part of the current story but it's featured in the prelude and I would say that it's repercussions do play a part later on. Also, it's really great in general so you should give it a try anyway. For some reason it doesn't show up on this site, but like four volumes have already been scanlated.

The Change! Gender Bend
The Boy of the main pairing thinks himself gay and never finds out that she's a girl. They do end up together but not til the very last chapters
The word 'studying' was made up of two words originally - 'students dying'.

Otoyomegatari - Main couple is forced to be together through arranged marriage, but they fall in love with each other. Also deals with other couples and arranged marriages and how they fall in love. It's a good read. I'm thinking about buying the series.
Hope this helps!

Some isn't exactly forced to be with another but rather because of circumstances, she felt the need to stay with another man that she doesn't loved.
Masca
Silver (FUJITA Kazuko)
Bronze no Tenshi
Love Blog!!
at least, at the first few chapters
Show Princess is a good one and fits the bill
Yeonmoo because of the secret identity thingy and along with that similar circumstances: Scarlet Palace
Not fully scanlated:
Four Daughters of Armian
the story of the second princess is really heartwrenching but too bad it wasn't scanlated fully but do read it if it ever finished being scanlated

I'm pretty sure there were more manga that match your request but these are all that come to my mind for now:
Series:
Apothecarius Argentum by YAMASHITA Tomomi is definitely what you're looking for. The impossible love between the main characters is central to the plot and played until you can't predict the outcome anymore. The suspense almost drove me crazy when the deal with the arranged marriage reached its peak.
TAMAKI Nozomu's Dance in the Vampire Bund portrays a classic, forbidden relationship between a vampire princess and her werewolf bodyguard. Needless to say that she'd be bound to mate with one of her several prospective vampire fiances if she ever grew out of her childish body.
Ojou-sama no Untenshu by ISHIHARA Keiko ought to be to your liking. The daughter of a high-class family shares a close bond with her chauffeur but society has different plans for them.
TOMA Rei's Fantasy Reimei no Arcana features several characters who are separated from their love-interests and forced to be with another. I can't say anything more unless you don't mind spoilers.
TAKEDA Hinata's Ikoku Meiro no Croisée may only have the star-crossed love as a subplot, nevertheless I found it prevalent enough to be mentioned here. Otherwise, the mangaka did a good job at depicting the cultural differences between (historical) France and Japan.
One-shots:
The main story in MITSUKI Kako's Tsuki no Waltz tugs at your heartstrings. A romance between a young mistress and her butler that shall never be.
Akaishinyo, the last one-shot from Edo Karuta by AME Arare, revolves around an impoverished noble woman and her loyal servant. They are separated due to several misunderstandings and unforuntunate circumstances, but their feelings for each other remain.
If you'd like a more realistic look at the Edo period, try Chiruhi by KAWACHI Haruka. About the harsh fate of a prostitute and her poor suitor.
ASAHINA Shouko's Babel no Tegami
Well-crafted story about an old butler's love from his younger days.
Ninohime no Monogatari by IZUMI Kaneyoshi
Your requested theme is only brushed shortly but this historical tale might be to your taste anyway. An ambitious civil servant is appointed to become the tutor of the neglected emperor's daughter.

He can't understand that they end in him, but they don't end with him."
- Ursula K. Le Guin, Gifts
To be savoured:
- Blood Alone by TAKANO Masayuki
- Otoyomegatari by MORI Kaoru
- Gangsta. by Kohske
- Seishun Kouryakuhon by AKIZUKI Sorata
